@Cheamane Tiny Desk is meant for your biggest hits...for general fans that would recognize the songs not just her core fans, day 1 fans. You're not gonna get deep cuts from any artist unless that deep cut is renowned as a popular "could've been a single" song... Like Usher's Superstar
This prompt was too much fun last year not to bring back, but this year I want to expand it a little.
There was some debate last year about Southern Soul vs Liquor House Music vs just straight up Delta Blues. It's all the same family, but there are also distinct cultures under this umbrella. It’s trail rides and line dances. Fans and boots. Juke joints and liquor houses. Hole-in-the-wall spots with packed dance floors and somebody named Charlene making you wings fried hard.
It’s music built for gathering, moving, and having a good time.
In the last few years, the rest of the country has started catching on, but folks in the South been outside.
So today is for my trail riders, my line dancers, my steppers, my liquor house regulars, my hole-in-the-wall patrons, anybody familiar with a VFW, and everybody who knows exactly what to do when the right song comes on.
For Day 16 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share your favorite Southern Soul or line dance bop.
It’s your senior year in high school, and prom is only a week away.
Zaria Peterson, Tiffany Warren, Taina Morales, and Topanga Lawrence all asked you to take them to the prom.
You can only take one! Who’s gonna be your prom date?

One thing about Black folks, we gonna pay a compliment that sounds like an insult. Especially with music.
We’ll call something nasty, say it’s disgusting, say it made us nauseous.
But everybody understands exactly what we mean.
And when we hear a beat that goes, we gonna look like you violated a health code. Like something STANK…cause that’s the funk in us.
For Day 15 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share the beat that makes you scrunch your face up every time.
Her late night talk show was really good and should've been bigger than what it was.
I wish she'd get passed the bs and do her thing in film, television and on stage. One of the funniest comedians out
