@Zarko563048@Its_OBrien Ryan was here for six seasons, and took a higher paying job near Myrtle Beach to do what was best for his family. Coastal paid the buyout on the contract. It’s business. Nobody did anything wrong here.
@RealBirdLawyer For what it’s worth, they’ve consistently selected players whose pre-draft ranking happened to be within five slots of where they were picked, so I don’t buy this narrative that they’re always taking #30 at 6.
Developing those players? A miserable failure most of the time.
@nschneid65@goldbergkc Toro would’ve been a possibility to cover for a few days, but who are you going to remove from the 40-man roster to make room for him? I think that’s their dilemma.
@nschneid65@goldbergkc I think it’s because they lost two infielders, the 40-man is full, there are no clear DFA or 60-day IL candidates to make room, and Rojas was the only available infielder.
Matthew Lugo is the only alternative, and I think he’s out of minor league options.
They’re stuck.
@MatthewLeeRosen I don’t think anyone is asking the umpires to correctly identify pitches like these as strikes. The technology is there to help, not embarrass anyone.
But I do agree that the future is all ABS, probably with an umpire back there to relay the call.
@HellbenderSTL Yup. Unfortunately, lifelong love affairs with sports don’t pay the bills.
It’ll feel weird to not see the Hammons Field signage, but I’ll take securing the ballpark’s future over my feelings.
@Drizzy_Dru29@mizzoucpa Unless you were willing to pay Cody Bellinger a lot more than he got from the Yankees, I don’t see a single free agent outfielder they could’ve signed in the last two classes who would’ve made any sort of a meaningful impact.
@JoshChavis65 They are not going to fire a manager they just signed to an extension before the season started. It’s a non-topic.
We can also stop the ridiculous assumption that being 7-15 is somehow acceptable to ownership, the front office, coaches or players.
Just stop.
@RyanSublett1 I think we’re jumping to a lot of uncertain conclusions on that because that’s what we do on the internet these days.
Really think it’s going to be ok.
@RyanSublett1 Yup, but you can’t have a manager working on a 1-year deal. Gotta extend him or move on. They chose the former. A bad 20-game stretch isn’t going to change their minds unless he gets fired for cause.
@RyanSublett1 That would be stunning and unprecedented. If they knew he wasn’t the right guy, he would’ve been let go after last season. Not signed to an extension. https://t.co/yvX7HO3Xje
