A resident keeps detailed minutes of Anmore's council meetings. Here are a few from our question period to Council with almost comical responses.

"A resident said “We are not allowed to speak about what we are not allowed to speak about, but at the Public Hearing will you listen to us?”

Another resident asked why residents are not allowed to talk about “Anmore South” but Icona's consultants could. Council said "residents and delegations can TALK about what they are not allowed to talk about, but Council won't acknowledge them." #pretendtobedeaf

And a resident asked what were the changes in provincial legislation that invoked rules that prohibited mentioning Anmore South. The mayor said "he would not comment because it had to do with Anmore South".

Mcewen’s claim that the public hearing was another opportunity for him to hear from the public is laughable and delusional. He shut residents down unlawfully at every opportunity, wouldn’t answer emails and was joined at the hip with the developer. The only division was between 4/5 of council and the village. Our mayor’s letter. 😳. Seriously delusional. He still doesn’t get it. After all of this. The public hearing as another place to hear people??? This is simply bizarre. The mayor never let us talk for weeks. He was actually looking forward to hearing from 250 people who were livid at him? He shut us up at every opportunity, unlawfully. The silent majority were so silent one might think they never existed at all! Does John know what the word majority means? “A percentage meaning more than half”.
Council wanted to explore other opportunities from the start?
This is a ridiculous statement John Mcewen. You were Icona’s employee! Weren’t you?? The right thing to do is resign. You’ve lost your credibility. And maybe an apology?? But you’d never think of that.

What a festive atmosphere after…a pizza truck, neighbours rejoicing and meeting each other - and one resident who happens to be a magician took his prepared speech, ripped it into pieces and then the pieces disappeared 😂

Thank you!! Fought a lot of polished professionals and politicians. Stop the Spin is our new mantra. Just a brutal council/developer collaboration well decided in advance, media controlled, strategic deceptive public engagement and code phrases like “proponent led” to shut us down.

our lovely mayor on CTV said his distasteful residents don't want "those people" in Anmore. This is another spin tactic the whole group of them are now using. Icona's consultant Placemark's Paul Sullivan wrote the following: "Anmore doesn't want "those people". Those people being families, seniors, first time home buyers, and service industry workers" Nice to see that instead of defending us the mayor just joins right in. It's all orchestrated. Enough already. They are starting to look like childish fools. the comments on the article tell you how they these goofs are perceived by people.
