@Niall_Diarmuid@Laurel700 Actually, it was said around 1915 - a quote from Gurdjieff's student, Ouspensky. Gurdjieff - most remarkable man of the 20th century to some, a charlatan to others.
@BristolLive Late in responding, but here's a comical video that might answer the question about how many Bristol accents there are https://t.co/4HJ3PlwEUn
@beardedjourno And I do believe that Darren Jones, the MP for Southmead and the rest of Bristol North West, grew up in the equally less well-off district of Lawrence Weston.
@beardedjourno Actually, if Christopher Stevens wants a more authentic Bristolian experience he could move to the less well-off district of Southmead (mentioned in his article). It's only about 3 miles away from Redland!
See Section 4. That's me effectively shut out from ever returning to live in the country where I was born, but then I do realise that my 4ft 11 and 8st Italian wife, with her passion for embroidery and Italian cuisine, is a huge threat to the UK! https://t.co/PpdDv7Viok
All the reminiscing that we did with family and Jim's friends reminded me of a song I wrote some 30 years ago after staying with his family in Sydney, Australia. Without his invitation it would never have been written. https://t.co/hgU7ZuZE3z
My wife and I arrived back in Nuoro, Sardinia early yesterday evening after a rather intense week in Leamington Spa and Bishops Tachbrook, sometimes exhilaratingly enjoyable and sometimes profoundly distressing, as we said a final farewell to a wonderful big brother.
"To be violent is the ultimate laziness" - Peter Brook. "Nothing comes from #violence and nothing ever could" - #Sting. "Violent means and methods in anything whatever would unfailingly produce negative results." - Ouspensky
Reading all the kind words said here about my dear brother has brought another tear to my eye. It was only about 6 weeks ago that my wife and I were staying with him for a few days. That he meant so much to so many is deeply touching.
It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news that Professor Jim Davis passed away on Saturday 4th November. Everyone who had the pleasure of encountering Jim will appreciate that this is a huge loss for his family, friends, colleagues, and the wider research community.
My latest blogpost from A @Bristolian in @Sardinia - in @Italian - and about how famous (or not) music stars like Paul Weller @paulwellerHQ are in Italy https://t.co/9siMXCyED5
@Joey7Barton On Saturday, nearly 50 years later this young lad showed how much he's matured by doing a 'goal' dance (akin to a rain dance) around his living-room (in Sardinia) to help Bristol Rovers gain automatic promotion. It worked! https://t.co/mjk8f8coHL
Very much enjoyed reading A Life In Football by Don Megson with Christopher Olewicz @CAOlewicz over Christmas. It brought back a lot of powerful memories from his time at @BristolRovers and my time as a delusional teenage fantasist!
