On the road to Leesville to address the Chamber of Commerce. Shout out to @RepLanceHarris for a great place to stretch one's legs and grab some caffeine.
It’s obvious that Congressman King doesn’t understand the massive destruction that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita heaped upon the people of Louisiana. It’s even more obvious that he doesn’t understand the culture of our people who reached out from all parts of our state and all
walks of life to come together to assist our fellow Louisianans. Furthermore, the goodness of our people show in the efforts put forward to assist our fellow Americans in other states in their times of need. I’m proud of our people. I’m proud to be a Louisianan, and I thank God
H.R.1 is a blatant power grab to give Washington bureaucrats control over what American citizens can say about politics, how we can say it, and how we cast our ballots.
H.R. 1, the "Democrat Politician Protection Act" enables voter fraud across the country by throwing out state laws that require people to show their ID and prove who they are before voting.
"Instead of being called the 'For the People' Act, [H.R. 1] should be called the 'For the Politicians Act.'" -@SteveScalise. Thank you for standing up to this federal overreach into Louisiana's elections, @GeauxScalise!
H.R. 1 is an attempt by the left to federalize elections, forcing states to adopt policies like mandatory voter registration, same-day registration, and taxpayer funded campaigns. When liberals don't win, they try to change the rules.
“Democrats will tell you that this legislation expands your freedoms at the ballot box, but it actually limits Americans’ rights with unconstitutional government overreach.” Great read by @RepDrewFerguson on the unconstitutionality of H.R. 1. https://t.co/YLd8FEQc0f
“Fiscally responsible decisions concerning elections are the right thing to do...I am committed to reducing the number of special elections in our state."
