#ILC2026: Unions win global protection standard for platform workers! 🙌
🗣️ “Platform workers can now use this Convention to organise in trade unions, just like other workers to defend their rights and interests.” @luc_triangle

Big win in the fight for democracy at work and against the impunity of big tech.
This convention can provide leverage for national campaigners trying to regulate platforms and trade unions organising and bargaining inside these companies.

Q: Here in Washington DC, there's a Democratic primary for mayor. One of the two leading candidates is running a Zohran Mamdani campaign focusing on socialist policies. How would you feel if she wins?
TRUMP: Maybe we take back Washington and run it on a federal basis. We won't put up with it.
2/4: The S&P's price-to-earnings (PE) ratio sits at 39.6, just under the 43.8 dotcom peak. The long-term average is 19.1. Several Magnificent Seven stocks are far above that.
Dear Workers, #COSATU and affiliates urge your participation in #CosatuNationalAction against high #CostOfLiving in South Africa on the 19th of June

Witnessed yesterday at Mont des Arts the complete overreaction and recklessness of the police toward young students rightfully protesting. Wild chases, swinging batons, water and gas, barking dogs, grabbing 12 year olds at random, hitting them, dragging them. Shameful.
🇵🇹The ITUC stands in solidarity with the workers and unions of Portugal taking part in today's general strike against the government's proposed labour reforms.
Portuguese workers are taking action to defend fair wages, secure employment, collective bargaining, trade union freedoms, maternity and paternity rights, and the fundamental right to strike. Their struggle reflects the fight of working people everywhere against precarious work, low pay, and attacks on workers' rights.
✊We support their call for better living and working conditions, stronger public services, and policies that put workers before corporate interests.

2025 was NOT a good year for worker rights in the US:
"perhaps the biggest act of union busting in the nation’s history"
"millions of workers being left without access to justice"
"use of immigration enforcement..to quell...freedom of expression, assembly, and association"
📢 JUST LAUNCHED: The 2026 ITUC Global Rights Index
🗣️“The 2026 Global Rights Index shows that the crisis for workers’ rights is no longer confined to the margins - it is now at the heart of democracies. Governments are failing to protect working people, and in many cases are actively undermining them.” @luc_triangle ITUC General Secretary

Platform companies misclassify workers like Ludo as self employed to deny them their rights. It shuts millions of workers out from minimum wages, sick pay and the right to organise.
This must change. It's time for rights!
🇵🇪✊ From next week’s presidential election runoff to the fight for rights for all #PlatformWorkers, ITUC affiliates @catpperu and @cutperu are mobilising in the #FightForDemocracy! 🗳️🚴📱
This month, ITUC and @CSA_TUCA joined CATP and CUT on the ground to strengthen organising and solidarity. Together, each confederation is developing action plans to win an ILO Convention and Recommendation on platform work in Geneva, secure ratification at home, and organise workers across every platform and sector in #Peru. 🤝🔥
While the far-right and tech billionaires work together to weaken democracy and workers’ rights, the global trade union movement is uniting to expand democracy and deliver rights for all workers. ✊🌍⚖️
Five years after Starbucks workers in Buffalo made history, @SBWorkersUnited has grown into a national campaign with nearly 700 unionized stores.
The workers helped define a new era of organizing. Now they’re still fighting for a contract they deserve.

The ITUC welcomes the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice, confirming that the right to strike is protected under International Labour Organization Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise.
🗣️ “We thank the world court for this advisory opinion. The Court has confirmed that international law supports the longstanding understanding shared not only by unions, but across large parts of the ILO system for decades." @luc_triangle ITUC General Secretary

The ITUC is greatly concerned by the interception by Israeli military forces of boats participating in the latest Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission to Gaza.
🗣️ “This peaceful civil society mission reflects the growing desperation felt by people around the world in the face of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.” @luc_triangle ITUC General Secretary

Fwiw, when I was at @ATUComm, we worked with @APWUnational, @ATULocal689 + more against privatization at the height of Metro and USPS outsourcing mania. We'd assumed Kenyan McDuffie, a former postal worker, would be an easy supporter. Never responded to meeting requests. 🤷
Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false.
Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:
Palantir executives donated more than $1.3 million to current members of Congress across the 2022, 2024 and 2026 election cycles—more than any other top ICE contractor’s executives.
