@xpresstn 80 Irular kids in Madhakaduppu in #Ambur , #Tirupattur as they did not possess birth certificate due to home delivery. Parents vaguely remember DOBs as "Pongal masam kalich" or "Aadik munnadi". But, as they got older, birth certificates became inevitable.

Remember the age-determination system that existed previously where kids were asked to touch their left ear with their right hand and if they could, they were fit to be admitted to school?
Besides, height and weight tests, similar practices were followed for around..

So many rooted Tamil movies had and still having lead female characters from other states. Tamil women are missing out their representation in Tamil movies.
It is 2027, and it is pathetically unfair that residents on remote hills are losing their lives because they couldn't get critical healthcare access on time, compounded by the lack of proper roads!!!
People have died here after walking for 10 km on the existing mud road to get medicines or to reach nearest hospital in Vaniyambadi. Sharing a detailed story from 2025 by @JDheepthi

Rs 1.2 crore spent, 147 shops — but where are the vendors?
A Vellore Corporation market on Anna Salai, built to accommodate fruit and vegetable vendors, is lying largely unused despite a Rs 37.50-lakh facelift and a steep reduction in shop rent.
Vendors say the market’s poor visibility and lack of customer footfall have made business unviable. The facility, which once housed around 150 shops, is now reportedly being used for garbage dumping, drinking and open defecation.
Traders have a suggestion: Convert the market into a parking lot to ease traffic congestion in the area.
The market was developed under the Smart Cities Mission at a cost of Rs 82.90 lakh, while the recent renovation added another Rs 37.50 lakh.

2.5-km walk for water, three to four times a day
For around 200 residents of Nachimedu hamlet in Vellore, fetching water means walking 2.5 km each way along a difficult hill path. Women make the journey three or four times a day, carrying 10–15 litres on their heads, while the shortage affects cooking, bathing, work and even children’s school timings.
With rainfall this year around 48% below normal, residents are seeking a permanent solution. Officials have promised a new borewell, with work expected to begin next week.

As a woman I am extremely aware the only reason I have rights is because women before me got mouthy, organized, and made herself inconvenient. Thats why I see women who uphold the patriarchy as traitors

Kudos to SFI, AISA & AISF for their political astuteness in recognising the opportunity to reach and influence a wider audience of largely urban, depoliticised masses by standing in solidarity with their protest, not just with words, but with action.
10/10 political praxis.
Adulthood for me has been fascism, genocide, wars, mob lynchings, ethno-supremacy, fake news, historical revisionism, capitalist greed, scorching heat, drowning rains bot enshittified social media, AI slop and it's probably only beginning. RIP what I used to imagine in childhood.
Education will always be the most powerful tool in the fight to annihilate oppression, but what happens when first-generation graduates are failed by the very same education system 1/n
She cleared TET. She has a B.Ed. But every morning, she reports to work as a sanitation worker in a Chennai Corporation school.
When teachers are absent, she steps into the classroom — without the pay, designation or recognition of a teacher.
How many qualified graduates are forced to take up jobs that don't match their education?
