What's a pirate's favorite star? A pulsarrrr!
Our NICER telescope aboard the @Space_Station, which studies pulsars, is getting some “eye patches” later this year. This repair kit will stop unwanted sunlight from entering the telescope. https://t.co/V0BSffJLGD #TalkLikeAPirateDay
@bean_kenobi@planet4589 I was grouping Crew 8 with ISS... so I mean 4 independent floating spacecraft with crew in them.. Chinese Space Station with Shenzhou attached, Soyuz, Dragon (Polaris), ISS (with crew 8 and soyuz attached)
It is time to pick the newest "Astro Plot of the Week"!
Pick one:
- Plot from Rowan et al. (https://t.co/bxkrU55AL7)
- Plot from Nicholl et al. (https://t.co/yHIGpDL61b)
Poll (below) is open for two days - vote!
https://t.co/D448TBk79S Really cool result from Nicholl+ confirming X-ray QPEs can pop out of TDE disks (confirming work by e.g. @joheenc ). This strongly supports QPEs are produced by star-disk collisions, i.e. "EMRI+TDE = QPE" scenario we've been developing w/ Itai Linial.
Thrilled to announce the culmination of years of research, working with an amazing team; the results for PSR J0437-4715 are finally here✨🍾! Dive into details of how we came about some of the tightest neutron star radius measurement to date in this insightful thread! #published
