@AinsworthKeith No surprise. Fox is just as guilty as the rest of the crooks. The election night 2020 coverage did me in. It was a nightmare learning how corrupt they were. Only one I trust is my Lord and Savior!
@IggyBolshevik@WallStreetApes I do it in Nebraska and can override it. Trust me, the moment the environmental wackos try anything like that the thermostat will be launched into the garbage can so fast!
Nebraska ranks 4th highest in the nation for property taxes.
Any state senator that dismisses this is as "fake news" is either ignorant, oblivious, obtuse, or diverting/deflecting from their incompetence.
Any state senator that dismisses THEIR responsibility to SOLVE the problem VIA the amendment of State Statutes (their PRIMARY purpose IS amendment of State Statutes) is either ignorant, oblivious, obtuse, or diverting/deflecting from their incompetence.
Homeowners in Nebraska, paying an average of $5,516 a year on a $400,000 home—way above the national average of $3,552 is BY DESIGN.
This math IS relative to ALL Nebraskans, no matter the "valuation" of your house. It's relative for all Nebraskans...because if you don't PAY, THEY take your home.
This didn't just manifest on its own. These numbers didn't, by happenstance, just appear. The "COST" (your taxes) of keeping ALL government operating didn't incrementally increase because of inflation.
It's PURPOSEFUL. It's with INTENTION. It's by the ignorance, obliviousness, obtuseness, and/or diverting/deflecting of incompetence.
But do not be fooled that solutions don't exist.
Lowering property taxes is essential, but doing it by leaning on state-funded subsidies while our budget faces mounting debt is a shell game.
And know this...after this upcoming Unicameral session, those "tax credits" are going to be sacrificed for the State budgets "needs".
Your TOTAL property tax bill IS going to go up in 2027.
We will be ranked #1 highest in the nation for property taxes. Go Big Red, right?🤯😡
We can't keep masking local spending problems with state cash without putting our fiscal health in a chokehold.
Real relief requires structural spending restraint, not shifting the burden to a growing state budget debt.
The Second Chamber is the ONLY avenue for solving this problem. We will Make Nebraska Even Better, together.

Yes, the post is somewhat misleading in its framing and tone, even though the core facts are largely accurate.
Here’s a clearer breakdown:
•The key quote is real. Internal Anthropic documents (unsealed in the Bartz v. Anthropic copyright case) do contain the line: “Project Panama is our effort to destructively scan all the books in the world,” along with notes about keeping the project quiet.22
•They did buy and destroy large numbers of physical books. Anthropic purchased millions of used/out-of-print books (often in bulk from sellers like Better World Books), cut the spines off with industrial equipment for faster scanning, digitized the pages, and recycled the paper. This was faster and cheaper than non-destructive methods. Vendor proposals discussed capacity for hundreds of thousands to ~2 million books over six months.25
•The legal part is more nuanced than the post suggests. In June 2025, Judge William Alsup ruled that Anthropic’s use of purchased physical books for training (including creating a digital library by scanning and discarding the originals) qualified as fair use. He viewed it as transformative and essentially replacing the print copies the company already owned with more convenient digital ones, without distributing new copies to the public. The pirated/shadow-library downloads were treated separately and were not fair use—that’s what led to the large settlement.18
•Where the post stretches things:
◦“Just came out in court” is off. The major documents were unsealed around mid-to-late January 2026 (Washington Post coverage on Jan. 27 referenced filings from the prior week). By late July 2026 the story was months old, even if it was circulating again.
◦“Shred every book on the planet” and similar language is hyperbolic. The internal phrase was aspirational; the actual scale was millions of books, not the world’s entire literature.
◦Framing it as a secret “loophole” to legalize mass theft overstates the sequence. The company first used pirated material (the clear problem), then shifted to buying physical books and scanning them destructively as a more defensible approach. The destruction itself was part of what the court accepted for the purchased copies.
◦“Authors got a shredded book and nothing else” is partly true for the secondary-market purchases (authors and publishers typically receive no extra payment when used books are resold and then destroyed), but it elides that the big settlement was over the earlier pirated downloads.
Bottom line: The post correctly highlights a real, large-scale, secretive digitization-and-destruction effort and the uncomfortable optics of destroying physical books to train AI. The secrecy language in the internal docs and the sheer volume make it legitimately controversial to many people. However, the breathless “this is pure theft they almost got away with via a shredder loophole” framing oversimplifies the timeline, the court ruling, and the distinction between the pirated material and the purchased physical books.
The underlying tension—AI companies needing vast amounts of high-quality human text, the secondary market for books, fair-use boundaries, and the permanence of physical copies versus digital training data—is real and worth discussing. The post just packages it in a more alarmist and slightly distorted way.
@KirkPenner@KETV So, if you received millions of dollars that you know is not expected, wouldn’t you ask questions? I don’t blame state of Nebraska, OPS is 100% at fault!
Last week I learned that a serious software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office. These individuals answered "no" when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers' licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway.
This happened under the previous administration and, upon learning this information, I immediately ordered my chief counsel to launch an investigation to get to the bottom of what occurred. I also ordered the removal of any residents from our voter rolls who were erroneously added between June 2023 and June 2024. The new MVC Administrator that I appointed has begun the process of replacing the vendor responsible for administering the system.
Our preliminary analysis shows fewer than 400 individuals who were newly registered for the first time because of the error voted. They were registered as Democrats, Republicans and Unaffiliated voters and were scattered across the state.
I want to underscore how seriously I take this matter. As a military veteran who swore an oath to defend our Constitution, and as a former federal prosecutor, I believe the integrity of our elections is fundamental to our democracy. I am appalled by the reckless failures that allowed this to happen and the lack of transparency shown by those in charge at the time. This failure didn’t occur under my watch, but accountability starts now. I am taking action to prevent anything like it from occurring in the future and make sure those responsible are held accountable.
As the Trump Administration tries to weaponize elections for political gain, I am ensuring we protect our elections. Let me be clear: Donald Trump has zero credibility on the issue of election integrity. For more than ten years, he has worked to undermine Americans' faith in our elections by spreading lies about legitimate election results, attempting to overturn a free and fair election, encouraging an attack on our Capitol when he couldn't accept the will of the voters, and defunding election security at the federal level.
The difference is simple: when we find a problem, we don't hide it, deny it, or invent conspiracies. We investigate it, we fix it, and we tell the public. That's what accountability and good governance look like, and that's exactly what my administration is doing.
New Jerseyans should have confidence that every eligible citizen can vote, every lawful vote will be counted, and every reasonable step will be taken to protect the integrity of our elections. That's my responsibility, and it's one I will never stop fighting to uphold.
🚨 HOLY CRAP! The identity services provider New Jersey uses at the DMV is FIRING BACK at Gov. Sherrill, saying the NJ DIVISION OF ELECTIONS were the ones who registered 6,600 foreign voters
This was NOT a “software error.” This is a SCANDAL.
“IDEMIA's role is to transmit information through the motor vehicle system. The voter registration information is transmitted to the New Jersey Department of State, Division of Elections, which is ultimately responsible for verifying eligibility to vote.
Information submitted by IDEMIA must still be validated and adjudicated by the Division of Elections.”
So the Division of Elections MANUALLY APPROVED over SIX THOUSAND foreigners to vote. They were not automatically registered by the software provider as the governor claimed.
Time to come clean, @GovSherrillNJ!

🚨 President Trump's Newly Declassified Documents show MAJOR Election Vulnerabilities in 2020 Election Infrastructure.
"We judge that US adversaries, including at a minimum Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, as well as nonstate groups, have the capability to compromise US election infrastructure for the 2020 presidential election."
