the idea of one of the biggest artists in the world tapping into multiple regional sounds is really cool on paper. for me, the problem with the way Drake does it is it always feels very...cheap? latching on to a wave or in this case, using the spirit of Mac Dre, one of our most beloved icons in The Bay, as a surface level chess piece to disrespect California (something he already did with 2Pac of all people). it conflates very rich regional sub-genres and cultures with fleeting, transactional moments.
