“While we have more wars, more recklessness, more heedlessness from leaders who choose war, we do not see any change, any diminution in the humanity that binds communities across the world”.
A note of hope from @UNReliefChief Martin Griffiths

Imagine the combined population of New York City, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome being without homes, electricity, food, water, or other essentials. That's exactly how this earthquake is impacting 18M people in #Turkiye and #Syria.
Where's the news? Where have the headlines gone??
Businesses from Turkiye and around the world are contributing generously to help millions of people affected by last week's earthquakes. We've put together this Business Brief to help ensure those contributions are coordinated with the UN and other humanitarian organizations⤵️
Last week's earthquakes struck at the peak of winter, leaving many without shelter, food, water, heaters & medical care in freezing temperatures.

What we need now in Somalia is emergency life-saving assistance, urgent funding for the @UN, NGOs and partners.
The families I've met last week in Somalia need help now. Tomorrow will be too late.
What I saw today in #Türkiye was devastating.
What were once homes, filled with families and memories, now lay contorted and tangled.
Our thoughts are with those affected and we will continue to support in any way we can.
13 teams from around the world deployed & 39 more are on their way under @UNOCHA's coordination in response to the earthquake near the #Türkiye-#Syria border.
These teams will provide crucial support for emergency response and search and rescue efforts.

I was very happy to meet our @deutschepostdhl friends today for the renewal of our partnership agreement with @undp & @unocha.
Collaborating with the private sector is a win-win solution in humanitarian response. Looking forward to working even closer together in the future!
Such an honor to join @JoyceMsuya@NRC_Egeland@AnjaNitzscheB and colleagues from around the world at the #HiltonPrize ceremony today. Partnerships between the UN, civil society, and the private sector are key to making humanitarian response more effective and efficient.
If we want to tackle growing humanitarian needs and more complex emergencies, we must bring in the resources and expertise of the private sector.
