I fear that western civilisation is tearing itself apart. We've lost the ability to be civil with one another. But only together can we solve the world's greatest challenges. We can't do that stuck in our own ideological dogma. An open town square facilitates that if we're civil
@xmlnut Absolutely. I’m all for verified identities. People hide behind anonymity. People need to be accountable for what they say (and I mean ‘to be able to account for’ rather than ‘be blamed for’).
@mat_kelcey Mandatory voting has a moderating effect. Politicians need to fight for the centre rather than energise the fringes. I can’t think of a better way to reduce the crazy partisanship in the US. Make it a civil duty rather than just a civil right.
@SarcasmMother Whilst that’s true (and an amusing acendote), happiness is subordinate to purpose. Make your life meaningful by finding some purpose. Find some way to make things better.
@carolrhartsell Katee Sackhoff did a great job as Starbuck in the re-imagined BattleStar Galactia. Plus I quite like female doctors. Shouldn't be a problem.
