the socializing aspect of social media is dead. everywhere is full of bots faking being real people. everything is fragmented, designed for entertaining individuals rather than connecting with others. there's no more value in it for me

i dont want "social" media hyper-tailored to what it thinks will keep me online. the only reason ive kept all my accounts is because the online space is unfortunately very culturally relevant and i dont want to be out of the loop

but when everything is, by default, tailored to ME specifically, that doesnt give me a good idea as to whats relevant and whats just my tiny corner of the algorithm

everyone i meet either thinks im too socially incompetent to take seriously, scary, disappears off the face of earth, or wants to date me ._. i just want nearby friends :(

i crave connection so badly. nobody i know lives near me anymore. i cherish my old friendships. i try to meet new people locally but nothing lasts. i dont know how to make new real friends anymore.
