@Meag_han If you are talking about just having one or two classes in a course that you put on a television show, or reference a tv show, I've used a tv episode for assignments on the monomyth, or started a lesson using a clip where lit was mentioned to connect it to pop-culture #TSUEngMAE
I'm guessing most of us probably already know about this resource, but I love Poem A Day, and plan on using it at the beginning of each day in my future classroom. Here's the link to sign up for the email.

@madel_padel How about "The Reader"? It was one of my favorites when it came out a few years ago, and I'm a sucker for any book that stresses the importance of reading. #TSUEngMAE

@Meag_han@madel_padel@writerkmc I love that book! If you liked it, u should read "People Like Us." Another YA murder mystery, with some LGBTQ representation included by the main character. #TSUEngMAE

@Meag_han I spent an uncomfortable amount of time reading different memoirs and essays. It made me wish we had some guidelines or something so I knew what to search for. #TSUEngMAE
@KayleyWhyte @VanTegtmeier Gosh, I love the idea of finding a way to incorporate sims. I think what students choose to do with it shows a lot about them. You could definitely use it by asking them to create lit character, boiling them down to their most basic traits.
To add to the list of critical groups that don't often have representation in books taught in school, people with disabilities. So here's a link to book reviews for books for all ages that could be used in the classroom. #TSUEngMae https://t.co/FtSzVuqgEm
Personally, I hated the way R & J was taught in high school, so does anyone have a unique approach that doesn't focus on the boring choice vs. fate debate? #TSUEngMAE
In doing research for an assignment, I found this video about microaggressions in education, specifically common ones that teachers make to students, and how to deal with it when someone else says one and when you say one without thinking. https://t.co/WPrH7vhpFg

Enjoyed reading ABC so much this week that I did some research on ideas in bringing it into my classroom. Here is one of the favorites that I saved for myself.

With our discussion posts talking about teachers not knowing the criterion for choosing a valid multicultural tex, here is one resource with some guidelines. https://t.co/F5LlvASOiN #TSUEngMAE
Friendly reminder that as future educators, part of our job is being good citizens of the education profession, and that includes doing some research on what is on the ballot that pertains to education. That is all. Just do the research before you vote. #TSUEngMAE
I'm gonna drop in and praise a couple people, but my personal favorite learning activity of the week was Van, Kayley, and Sam's Mock Trial idea. I thought it was awesome and want to steal/borrow it for my own classroom. If anyone didn't look at it, you should. #TSUEngMAE
@summerpennell@MsAWills@AndrzejewskiSam I used it mainly in a world history course & a world religion course. It helped me to gain a better understanding of how what we were learning was still only a small part of the culture we were studying. It also was a good bias check for previous ideas from media. #TSUEngMAE
Because of time lack, I read assigned ch. of Things Fall Apart & sparknoted the rest. Everyone speaking about the book in DP's & in the zoom-meeting, made me want to read the book. A good ex. of motivating students w/ my own passion & connecting it to current issues. #TSUEngMAE
