Hoping for some ideas….. I’m after physical activities for older adults that cover a lot of abilities, ideally seated games. So far we do hockey football, fly swat balloons, basketball (moveable kids hoop). Beanbag throw. #DementiaAwarenessWeek#dementia#OT#OccupationalTherapy
@NicolaLauchlan @Lawrenc28443726 @Katie_Next I’m so glad to say we do see and work with people returning to nursing homes howerver I am withjn mental health so physical may be different
@OT_Expert I was but all u need is a few close friends, I was lucky there was 4 of us ‘older ones’ I say that as I was only 26 but the rest were straight from school. Ul find as u all work together ul soon fit in and find some like minded people
@OT_Expert OTs complete cognitive and functional assessments, identify strategies to support their difficulties and promote their participation in occupations! Sometimes that includes adapting their activities/environment with the aim of supporting them to do what they enjoy. OT is diverse
@rach_80_OT@OT_Expert I somewhat agree, obviously not at the minute. It’s a good way to get a functional assessment done if they ain’t to keen to engage, however some houses I’d never
@OT_Expert Sorry I’ve definitely more than one 🤣 no one is mind readers so tell them what you’ve been doing, if you don’t understand something ask for support don’t pretend you know. If you make a mistake or don’t know the answer it’s ok
@OT_Expert You’re not expected to know everything, you’re main learning will be on placement, be confident in what you know and hold your head up high and try your best
When times get tough it’s our family and friends that pull us through. Don’t think anything can be harder than 4th year at uni! Dissertation, working and home schooling certainly gave me grey hairs but these guys were my rock!#allmostayearago#alwaysdoyou#striveforthebest#RGU
