I have already spent $1000 on my abstract fee, registration, and flight to ADA. That doesn’t even include hotel or food. I’m not eligible for travel awards because it’s work from my PhD. Why academia?? Trainees shouldn’t have to personally finance career growth opportunities 😭

Having the opportunity to learn about the disease you’re researching from a clinical standpoint is truly invaluable. I have learned so many things I never would have from manuscripts or conferences. PhDs, if you can shadow multidisciplinary clinics focused in your area, DO IT!

Found out that my A0 NIDDK F32 application I submitted in Dec before starting my postdoc received an impact score of 30! I’m grateful that it was discussed by reviewers and for the help of my mentors, especially @cree_green! Hoping for helpful feedback and comments! 🙂

I can’t believe my community nutrition rotation with Weighing In and @12345FitTastic at @ChildrensMercy is already over. I had a great experience with wonderful mentors and I encourage other dietetic interns to seek out unique community sites that align with their passions!

Spent my day observing the weight management clinic (PHIT) @ChildrensMercy and I absolutely cannot wait to continue learning from this talented interdisciplinary team as well as some pretty awesome kiddos. Safe to say week 1 of my dietetic internship is going well!

@AusRob_PhD @japplphysiol Yes! I always talk with my husband about this and I try to learn as much as possible from his work in business and his MBA training. I think a few courses in management and finance would go a long way (for both PIs and their trainees)! Looking forward to the read. Thanks!
