This is exactly how I feel as an individual who has been a part of the SBC since Cradle Roll. Never have I felt MORE MARGINALIZED as a Sister-in-Christ! Never in my lifetime have I felt this kind racial division against my black family in Christ.

Trying to wrap my head around SBTS and the SBC EC positioning themselves to protect their economic best interests, over and against, moral high ground, and the best interests of abuse survivors. Prioritizing principles above profits, ethics over economics, morality above money, should be guiding principles of an organization whose primary reason for existence is to represent, and to be ambassadors of the Kingdom of God on earth.

The legal position that SBTS and the EC has taken in this case is morally evil and spiritually bankrupt. The spirit behind the decision to prioritize monetary interests, over the morally correct decision, is the same spirit that drove the SBC & SBTS to affirm, defend, & practice slavery, segregation, racism, and economic exploitation of Black people for 150 years, without repentance. History is repeating itself. We are witnessing a moral crime before our very eyes financed by CP dollars, which makes all of the SBC & her membership churches and congregants-complicit in the sins against these abuse survivors, officially sanctioned by SBTS, and the EC. This is appalling.

This should be alarming to the SBC constituency. A swift, and unequivocal denunciation & repudiation of SBTS/EC’s wicked decision should be coming forth as soon as possible. Accountability for this matter cannot wait until June. To leave this matter unaccounted for, places all of us, as siding with evil, in the same way, that the vast majority of the SBC, had to know slavery & racism was indefensible, yet by silence & inaction, they granted approval. I, for one, go on record as totally denouncing & repudiating the actions of SBTS & the EC towards these abuse survivors.

Morality must always drive believers decisions over monetary interests. I’m astounded by their decision & the rationale/reasoning behind it, other than, the SBTS & the SBC has regressed back to their original sin, exploitation over ethics. Same moral crime, now repeating itself.

Everyone involved in signing off on this decision should be held immediately accountable.

What we learned from the NAAF letter is that this amendment will disproportionately impact AA SBC churches. What it boils down to is White men determining titles, ecclesiology, exegesis/interpretations on text regarding women roles, gifts, culture & nomenclature in AA churches. I pity the SBC AA church who would give this kind of control over their local congregations to White men who 80-90% vote for Trump or Desantis. Never in a million years, would I grant them that kind of power over the church I pastor. For the AA churches who view this matter theologically as do the advocates of the Law amendment, I respect your autonomy & right to do so. But, for the many who view it differently, we must demand that the SBC respect our right to interpret and apply these verses differently. Make no mistake about it; at the end of the day this is about control, & imposing someone else’s definition of doctrinal purity on AA churches. NEVER!!!!

You won’t regret the time spent reading it, and I assure you, you’ll identify & relate at some point during his journey.

Unquestionably, you’ll be informed, challenged, deepen your current conviction/stand, or pause to acknowledge it’s ok to see some merit in the aspects/arguments to those opposite your position, while concluding the preponderance of evidence undergirds your position.

Whatever you do, make time & prioritize reading Lin’s story here. You’ll be glad you did.

@MateoChenta @pastordmack None. Maybe Nursery Director or Coordinator. But it would not be a Staff Position; instead, it would be an unpaid volunteer job or a minimum wage hourly position with no benefits. Would not be allowed to attend staff meetings or even church calendar meeting.
