@DavidAFrench As a parent of school-aged kids, I do agree. But this is kind of tricky. What is a cell phone? Some schools hand out tablets (big cell phones). Cellular watches have become a popular middle ground around here. The devil is in the details.
@USChess I just created a family membership and there is no "Family Members" on my dashboard. Not sure if this might be related to the other issues yall are having. I just needed to get my kids registered for an upcoming tournament and they need their own ids. Thanks!
@FreckledLiberty This is a false dichotomy. Would I rather have someone polite than arrogant, sure. Career/no career doesn't factor into that decision. I know plenty of humble career women and plenty of arrogant women without jobs. Same is true of men, btw.
@befaithful10 I would also throw in one argument. When someone is struggling or in recovery, wise counsel often involves urging them to serving others - not just working on your own house.
@befaithful10 Sure, there are reasonable biblical principles that can be applied on both sides of the argument.
I do think there is a biblical mandate for compassion. That doesn’t have to play out as policy changes. But it should govern how we think about others.
@reachjulieroys@johnmacarthur Unfortunately, I have come to believe that JMac makes these bold claims to grab attention. It diverts away from any real point he might try to be making, things that are probably worthy of discussion. But he is getting his reward now.
@BMcGrewvy@TheAlanNoble In my experience, it is not generational. In the reformed circles, there is the embrace of nouthetic counseling - which seems to hinge on this. But younger generations are really digging their heels into this.
@Brandon93Smith I liken this to reading. While the material can impact you, it is less a particular factoid or turn of phrase - but the practice of reading that changes you.
@nienna121 This was a very hard thing for my wife and I to come to as well, I am sure it was a hard road to get there. I hope you continue to have peace with that decision. FWIW, we are 4 years into that decision with no regrets.
@xianNDS @KatinOxford@NoshMuller With posts like this, I am surprised you didn’t win. Hang in there, keep it up and I am sure you will get your prize. No reason for sour grapes.
