Years ago, someone looked at me and said,
“Chidi, with this kind of behavior, you can never be rich.”

At the time, I didn’t argue. I didn’t try to explain myself. But deep down, I knew exactly what they meant.

My “offence” was simple, I refused to do fraud.

I couldn’t imagine building a life by deceiving people. It never sat well with my conscience. No matter how attractive the money looked, I knew it would cost me something far greater my peace, my integrity, and my identity.

So I chose a different path.

I chose to work for my money.
I chose to struggle, to learn, and to grow.
I chose to make mistakes, to lose money sometimes, and to keep going anyway.

Because there is a different kind of joy, the kind that comes from knowing that what you have was earned, not stolen.

The kind of peace that lets you sleep at night without fear. The kind of pride that comes from building something with your own hands.

I don’t judge anyone. People make their choices, and everyone walks their own path. But as for me, I made a decision a long time ago; Chidi can never be part of fraud.

Years have passed since that moment.

Today, I look at myself and I smile. Not because I have everything figured out, but because I can see growth. I can see the journey. I can see the difference between who I was and who I am becoming.

Am I where I want to be?
No.

But I am not where I used to be either.

And that alone is progress.

Step by step, lesson by lesson, I am building a life I can be proud of; one rooted in honesty, patience, and purpose.

And if you ask me today, I would still choose this path again.
