Overlooked writing tip: use synonyms.
Writers use words like “explore” and “navigate” five times in one page. But there are also “consider,” “intimate,” “take on,” and good old “interrogate,” etc.
No need to repeat a functional word more than once.
Write with a dictionary.
I tried to upload a very expensive out of print book to lib gen with no success. How else can I share it. It's the definitive text on Nigerian textiles and I believe it should be more accessible
Textiles are cool. Fabric is magical. The fact that the core essence of technologies like the spindle and loom have remained unchanged for millennia makes me feel connected to the past with every garment I wear.
I think sometimes people forget that the textile and clothing industry is one of like, the top three industries in the world, and basically the next level of need after food and shelter. Despite clothing being a part of everyone’s lives, it’s constantly dismissed as frivolous.
if you’re afraid of anger you can set yourself up as a caretaker in unhelpful ways. I think two important things to say to your partner are “I see it from your perspective” and “What can I do to help?” but if you think your job is to make sure your loved one is never upset you’ll experience constant failure
I curated and designed this exhibit of Nigerian gemstones at the Lagos Gold and Gem Conference last week .

The poverty in this country makes every single thing deeply deeply transactional. All the advice, all the thinking, all the preaching. Its always about how to benefit, how to gain, how to be better off by virtue of. It is exhausting
