“To control a people you must first control what they think about themselves and how they regard their history and culture. And when your conqueror makes you ashamed of your culture and your history, he needs no prison walls and no chains to hold you.” ~ John Henrik Clarke ✊🏿
You don’t lose your scientific base to your trading competitors at this scale and recover overnight if you just change the government.
The damage Trump is doing with his campaign of science denial and attempting to make dumb the new smart will in many cases be irreparable.
Academics are not the enemy of the people, they are the foundations on which future prosperity are built.
The level of self harm being caused by political dogma is beyond comprehension.

If the company can afford a nine-figure buyback program but not a cost-of-living adjustment, it did not run out of money. It ran out of interest in you. Those are different problems with the same solution. A union.
America's 100 highest-paid CEOs median pay hit $39.4 million last year, up 35.8% in twelve months. Workers got 3.6%. They took home 10x the pay increase and blamed higher wages for higher prices? Whose wages? Not ours, that's for damn sure.
I can’t wrap my head around an economy where nursing homes cost enough to bankrupt families, yet the aides caring for our grandparents still rely on food banks. Eighty-eight corporate giants paid zero federal taxes last year, skipping out on a $22 billion bill. They also pulled in $4 billion in other tax handouts, all while paying sub-living wages. Every dollar they dodge becomes a public service cut or a bill for us all to pay.
For 32 years, Republicans have controlled every statewide elected office in Texas.
When Ann Richards left the Governor’s mansion in January 1995, Texas was ranked among the top 10 states in education, 5th in reading, and 6th in math.
After three decades of one-party rule?
Texas has dropped to 41st in education overall, 34th in math, and 44th in reading.
I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.
If Republican policies are so great...why are Republican-led states the poorest, least educated, with the lowest-paying jobs, and have the most people on public assistance programs? And did I mention that Republican administrations oversaw 9 of the last 10 recessions?
