Traffic down at U.S. news sites last month. Google answers instead of links is one reason. From Press Gazette: In August, just five of the top 50 sites had year-on-year growth but in September 18 had an increase in visits compared to a year earlier. https://t.co/6JSigkuE4s
Declines in traffic to news sites likely due to google searches returning answers rather than links, and high news interest a year ago due to elections. https://t.co/vEZfyUdVZU

The Philadelphia Inquirer, founded on June 1, 1829, is in the new media seat in the White House pool tomorrow.
The Inquirer is the third-longest continuously operating paper in America.
@joshtpm I think the NY Times headline works, but I'd substitute Illegally deported for wrongly deported. It gets at the administration's violation of the law, the lawlessness, which is different than just doing something wrong.
Another important newspaper changes it's ownership structure, becoming a publicly supported non-profit. I hope it can grow like the Philadelphia Inquirer has, under Lenfest Institute ownership. https://t.co/wCqUMMHXgj
@WallStreetApes States need local news organizations to report on the spending, so people will know and pressure their representatives. They don't need some young computer hacker to cut things at random.
