@BuzzPatterson@SecDuffy Supersonic flights coming back to US skies? Yes please! The DOT dropping this news is huge Golden Age of travel is calling. 🚀✈️
This is what’s it’s like 😬 It was so fast IRL, and it wasn’t until I reviewed the footage that I noticed how big that jolt was 🫨
For context: it was a calm wind day, which meant wake turbulence from planes landing on the crossing runway (22L) would linger over the runway (and across the final approach path for 29). I tried to stay higher on my approach to go over it, but ended up catching what was likely a tiny bit of it.
I landed ok after that and even got a “nice job” from ATC 😄

Usually, during short field takeoffs, pilots set the parking brake, spool up the engines first, and then release. It's all about maximizing every inch of that runway.
When you're on a dirt strip like this, there's no room for hesitation. You hold it on the brakes, feel the airframe shake as the engines hit full power, and then-blast off.
Raw power. Pure aviation. This is how it's done when the conditions aren't perfect, but the mission is.
