@JosieConno28862 I know you equate supporting Arsenal with being pro British military but that is not the case for me.

I support Arsenal because I liked watching the football they played when I was growing up - there was no political element to my decision.

@JosieConno28862 You're overthinking it. I just begrudge ENG doing well in football, my 'hatred' doesn't run much deeper than that. I picked ARS on a whim at 6 yrs old because I watched them every week on MOTD and liked how they played.

@Mike_RMCF Thoughts on Mayo winning the All-Ireland football final? Last won it in 1951, have lost 13 finals since then, but won today against the defending champions and did so managed by a man who lost 6 finals himself as a player for Mayo.

1) It has any relevance to the definition of what genocide is and

2) 4% is okay - 4%, 100% or 1%, it's a disgrace

@nonewthing @austriangooner1 I don't know why you keep saying that - there is nothing in the definition of what constitutes genocide that states a certain number have to be killed for it to be called a genocide.

And basic humanity would tell anyone that ANY number is reprehensible.

@adamkeys_ Disagree. Rogers is a brilliant player, but ARS have Eze in his position already and should not be paying that sort of money for him.

Not sure how it's more natural if I just decide today that I support Athlone, but I'm more than happy to do it.

It's not that there's anything stopping me. I was exposed to PL football from an early age - not the case with Irish football - and 'naturally' got interested in it from there. I could of course decide to support Athlone Town today (the nearest team to me - about 30 mins drive)..

@DarylArmstrong @DublinAirport looking at everything through such a tough, politically + emotionally charged lens. If we did that, no one would get out of bed in the morning. Look at all the wars + conflicts the UK has been part of throughout history, do they make it difficult for you to support them in sport?

@DarylArmstrong @DublinAirport 1) It's not that deep for me, it's simply backing a team that I watched growing up and became attached to.

2) Everyone knows about the long, bloody history with IRE & ENG, which is why many Irish ppl root against ENG in international tournaments - I don't go through my life..

Just because I 'financially support' ENG (in the LOOSEST possible terms) does not mean I actually shout and roar for ENG when they play, which is what I actually mean when I say I don't support them.

and wouldn't necessarily mind doing it, but it would be an arbitrary, spur-of-the-moment decision (I've never been to an Athlone game, and no one in my family supports them). Would that be any less forced or manufactured or better than 'naturally' following a PL team since youth?
