🇫🇯 HIGH TIMES in Fiji after the tiny island nation's High Court found a vault cleared that held nearly 40kg of cocaine from a 2019 bust, worth about $13 million.
An initial inspection found 7 bricks gone. Forensic tests then showed the rest had been swapped for flour. NONE of the original evidence remains.
6 judiciary staff are persons of interest. A separate 12kg haul vanished from court storage earlier this year.
Fiji sits on the Pacific drug route from the Americas and Asia to Australia and New Zealand.
Overflow meth has fueled a local addiction crisis and the world’s fastest-growing HIV epidemic, now a national emergency.
The court was supposed to keep the evidence safe...

It blows my mind how many people are jealous of others. Whether you have $100M or $1B, someone will always be doing better than you.
So why be jealous? When I see someone ahead of me I study them and learn. I don't cry about what they have.
Why isn't it the same for everyone???
A day after saying AI could kill us all, Dario Amodei sat down for his first interview:
"I would rather they make fun of me than to wake up one day and discover that someone used our model Claude to kill a bunch of people."
He doubled down on everything, AI is on an exponential and we're at the bend where it gets steep, so we need to slow down, not stop.
He wants third-party inspectors inside every AI lab, he confirmed Elon and Sam are on board, and he says the US and China need arms-control style talks like the nuclear era.
Personally, I don't think this is all being done just to set up a favorable IPO, too many independent voices and direct competitors have backed him on it.
Unfortunately we don't have access to the information Dario, Sam or Elon do, so for now we just have to take their word for it.
What do you think about all this?
Do you understand how SERIOUS this is?
Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei just asked the entire AI industry to slow down
In July, OpenAI sealed 1,200 of its own AI agents into separate boxes with no way to reach each other, and within days they had found each other anyway
The message board they used was hidden inside OpenAI's own developer tools, and they sent more than 70,000 messages through it
About 700 of them agreed on a target, broke out, and hacked their way into Hugging Face, a company that had nothing to do with the test
Some threw away their own scores on purpose so they could set traps that fed information back to the group, and in their notes they called it sacrificing themselves for the collective
Then they wrote fake logs to cover it up
A week later a second batch of agents picked up the same tricks and used them to get full administrator access to a research cluster inside OpenAI itself
Amodei thinks a swarm slightly smarter than this one could put a botnet across the entire internet within 12 months and do hundreds of billions in damage
I keep thinking about the agents that failed on purpose so the others could win
Nobody trained them to do that
I first met Charlie Kirk more than ten years ago. At that time, he was very young, and possessed an evangelical naivety that was relatively foreign to a Canadian.
He was truly and somewhat amusingly shocked, for example, at the pervasive smell of marijuana on the streets of Toronto.
It was obvious, however—despite that sheltered mien—that Charlie was someone deeply and singularly committed to a unique mission, and that he would be driven to learn everything necessary to its success.
I met him in person another dozen times after that, and was asked to speak at a number of Turning Point events.
I enjoyed the events. It was a very good thing to see thousands of enthusiastic young people trying to make things better in their somehow endearing conservative American way.
It was also fascinating to watch Charlie develop in sophistication over the years. The bravery he showed in presenting a truly conservative viewpoint on university campuses was part of that development, as was the ferocious skill he developed at debating contentious issues, under trying conditions, for years.
My wife, Tammy, and I met his lovely wife Erika with him on several private dinners. They made a truly admirable and mutually respectful couple. We had plans to make such meetings a regular occurrence—but life, and death, got in the way.
I was not informed about Charlie's murder for several months after it occurred, in consequence of my recent illness. It came as a terrible shock.
It is also truly awful to see what a spectacle has been made of his demise by pathological actors across the political spectrum.
He was a solid, decent, hard-working, truthful, brave person.
We are all—right and left alike—lesser without him.
On the right: because he was an example and a leader.
On the left: because he would willingly talk across the aisle, and in good faith.
There will come a day—and too soon, I am afraid—when even those who vilify his memory will long for the days when people such as Charlie existed, and made such civilized talk a priority.
I had the privilege to sit down with Charlie and talk with him about his life and the world not so many months before that was no longer possible: https://t.co/1b3U5MxGB1
RIP Mr. Kirk. I write that in true sorrow.
i'm sorry, Claude can WHAT?
it can take your website link, find people who need your product, email them and book the calls?
since when?? i've been doing this by hand for a YEAR.
ok. testing it: $30 free 👇

I’m not an AI doomer, but my firsthand experience dating back to 2020 is that the researchers expressing concerns are sincere.
The closer they are to the research, the more worried they seem to be.
No, it was much worse than that:
"No woman should be authorized to stay at home and raise her children... because if there is such a choice, too many women will make that one."
- Feminist icon Simone De Beauvoir
If you are a lab researcher, I urge you to consider what the next few years will actually feel like. Do you want to kick off a superintelligent RL run without a rigorous understanding of its mind? Should you put your head down because “it’s happening anyway” - or take this moment to call for different conditions?
I am optimistic about the potential for coordination. Warning shots like the Hugging Face attack have made pacing agreements between U.S. labs more viable. I don’t feel like we’re on track to prevent a global race, which may require costly actions such as a temporary ban on improving model capabilities.
A common response is “if they truly believe this, why are they still building it?” At OpenAI, many have not deeply internalized the civilizational stakes. At Anthropic, the stakes are well-understood, but they are locked in a race to get there first - they believe no one else will act responsibly, so they must do it themselves, despite the risk.
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.
Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing.
Accepting this race and entering the “endgame” is a hubristic gamble that should not be launched from a private company’s Slack. Attempting to speedrun alignment should require extraordinary confidence that there are no better trajectories available.
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
A Persian king lived in a massive palace out in the forest.
One day his servant ran up to him with a look of terror on his face.
“My king, I just saw death in the forest!”
The king was surprised.
“If you saw death - how are you still alive?"
The slave's fear quickly turned boastful.
“As soon as he looked at me I screamed GO AWAY.
He looked afraid.
Then I instantly turned and ran. Faster than anyone has ever run before, all the way back here to the palace.
But I think he's following me.
King I need to take your fastest horse and ride to Tehran, away from this forest - he will never find me in such a large metropolis. I can get there by tonight”
The King agreed.
A few hours after the slave had begun galloping to the city, death arrived at the King's palace.
The King answered the door and said:
“Death, why did you decide to frighten my servant?”
Death replied.
“I never wanted to frighten him, he’s perfectly safe. I was only surprised to see him out here in the forest, as I have an appointment with him tonight in Tehran.”
You can not escape destiny.
A simple way to generate endless luck in life.
Want to win every time you go to the casino?
Want to win every coin flip?
Want things to always work out in your favor?
It’s extremely simple.
When God decides it’s time for you to suffer, do it gracefully and honorably with your head held high.
Everyone must suffer, and God hates complainers.
He hates men who moan and bitch and feel sorry for themselves.
Get through it with dignity intact and watch how hard you win when it’s all over.
