Light groom and cut @DentonGolfClub to help remove seed heads and surface lateral growth. Result will be a smoother, truer ball roll. Also localised watering on common hotspots. Finally an application of @terralift TX10 fertiliser to boost nutrient reserves going forward ๐
Early season refinement on the greens today @DentonGolfClub. Brush, groom and cut to try and encourage some lateral growth and increase sward density. This combined with a light sand dressing will help with green smoothness and ball roll.
4th green bank reshaped @DentonGolfClub. New drain installed at base of the slope to catch rainwater runoff. This should be drier all year round and more resilient to golfer traffic due to better quality soil (sandy rootzone) and grasses. Back in play by end of May.
Another green all drained @DentonGolfClub. Always great experience, but hard work for everyone involved ๐ a bit of rest now for the green, and the team!
A long (but productive) day! 250 metres of pipe installed at 1.8m centres. All gravelled and ready for rootzone soil tomorrow. Thanks once again to @BA_LTD for the trenching service ๐ #drainage#teameffort
Made a start on our Eco-rough areas @DentonGolfClub. Cutting and collecting all the grass/debris will result in a reduction of the coarser grasses over time (and the amount of golf balls we found ๐)
Just over a week post-renovation on greens @DentonGolfClub. Very happy with recovery with help from @terralift TX 9-1-10 fertiliser and @Quadropdosing water irrigation treatment. Another week and we can begin to improve performance leading up to Captainโs weekend ๐ #teameffort
@BullerNiel@DentonGolfClub The holes have filled in really well with a bit of brushing (and the weather on our side for once!). Carrying out this type of work at this time of year as opposed to late autumn, means better results and quicker recovery. We expect 2-3 weeks for full recovery.
Course maintenance week completed @DentonGolfClub. Long hours but well worth it. A mixture of verti-cutting, hollow coring and scarifying carried out on the greens following assessment of thatch depths. Massive thanks once again to our shovel-wielding volunteers! #teameffort
Proud of you buddy ๐ช proper staff training is always going to benefit not on the individual, but the club and its members/visitors! Thanks again @Lomas2Phil for your time (and patience ๐ )
Congratulations to our (now ex) apprentice Ollie Smith on passing his Level 2 in Greenkeeping this week from @OldhamCollege ๐๐๐๐. We hear nothing but compliments from our members and staff, an integral part of our club! #futurestar#training
Frustrating time for all the Greenkeepers out there. Trying our best to present our courses, making difficult daily decisions to stay open, or shut due to seemingly never ending wet weather. Taking opportunities when they come, weโll get there guys ๐ #Patience
@GarforthS Absolutely. Weโre very lucky here @DentonGolfClub where the vast majority of members appreciate the work we put in. Obviously there are a few who you canโt please, open or shut ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
After all the rain youโve got to prepare for a drought at some point I suppose ๐ ๐installing new irrigation cable (the old fashioned way) to our 5th tee @DentonGolfClub
