AI optimists keep invoking the Industrial Revolution as proof that everything works out in the end.
But the real history is darker — and more useful.
Technology alone did not deliver the happy ending.
Policy intervention did.
The part everyone skips is the part we most need to study.
I wrote about what that means for AI:
Prediction: business that can’t develop native AI models won’t sustain very well. To the extreme, even business like Palantir won’t sustain very well if it kept staying out of model development.
@FinallyFoolin@arny_trezzi But looking forward, Palantir has to go into the foundational model business. The reason is simple. More and more will be encapsulated natively into models, though for now it’s not that obvious. $PLTR
.@elonmusk himself is a precious gift to humanity. It’s always so inspiring and exciting to read what Elon thought about the future, from Tesla master plans, TheBoringCompany ultimate transportation solutions, now to space exploration and AI. https://t.co/96YSUIAaZo
/ it initially always begins with technology breakthroughs
/ then followed by monetization of those technologies
/ that will fund further technological advancements
/ which lead to the ultimate goals
/ that have to be exciting, concerning humanity’s future and the reasons we wake up for every morning.
I have been helping families in Venezuela for 10 years and anyone who hasn’t been there or in close contact with people there have no clue. People are just addicted to being mad. Well while ur mad, Venezuela is happy for the first time in 25 years.
Hayek was asked to leave “a statement for the future generations.” His response is brilliant:
“Modern civilization which enables us to maintain 4 billion people was made possible by the institution of private property. It is only thanks to this institution that we achieved an extensive order far exceeding anybody’s knowledge.”
“If you destroy that moral basis, which consists in the recognition of private property, we will destroy the sources which nourish present-day mankind, and create a catastrophe of starvation beyond anything mankind has yet experienced.”
@markgurman Let's be straight. Only because Musk's apps treat adult content like *normal* and Apple doesn't like it because Apple wants to and always play "safe".
🚨BREAKING: ANTHROPIC JUST PULLED THE PLUG ON WINDSURF
> Windsurf will be cut off direct API access to Claude in <5 days
> 3.5 sonnet, 3.7 Sonnet 3.7 Sonnet Thinking
> Windsurf never even got direct access to Claude 4 anyways
ITS SO OVER.

It's very clear. Any species is destined to be updated into an updated version. The only question is when. That's how evolution in universe work. So what's the next story after human race? What's our evolved version? Civilized humanity has been decelerating human biological evolution to the extreme. It's replaced with the real evolution: culture or knowledge, or civilization. What would be the final results of human civilization evolution?
