I still can't really cope with the fact that I wasn't able to save myself, that my entire life now is thanks to a chance meeting with someone who decided to save me. What personal mythology can I build here? I didn't persevere, didn't fight for my place. I was ready to die.
It creeps up on you. You slowly run out of friends on whose couch you can still reasonably crash, you run out of excuses to make for staying over at people's places and it slowly goes from three nights on the street in between having a bed to a full week, to weeks, to realizing-
@missphavin how does one even deal with being on the other side of this without the convo immediately going to how your reasons for chooosing comfort matter more? or how im the dramatic? or “bringing up the past?” :/
I agree, and I also want to a knowledge that leaving can be very hard and hurt very badly. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or romantic partner, knowing someone loves you and realizing you should or have to leave can be devastating. It’s okay if it takes a few tries to
So freeing to realize you don’t actually need to solve someone’s inner life to decide what their behavior means for you. Maybe they love you deeply & are still too dysregulated, avoidant, selfish, overwhelmed, whatever to treat you well. You can believe that and still leave
“She saw how he treated other women and still picked him, she’s literally asking to be abused”. I really hate when yall start speaking about abusive relationships while have no idea how they actually function and as if people are asking for it. Yall actually sound so stupid and insane.
As I said, abusers ALWAYS lovebomb in the beginning, despite him treating other women poorly — they will do and say so much shit that makes you think they’ve changed and that you’re different. They triangulate like a motherfucker too. And they go for women with low self esteem because that’s the easiest doorway into making them attached. Hell it even happens to people with normal self esteem, just poor discernment. Getting abused is not a moral failing on the victims behalf, and nobody is “asking for it” just because they got trapped in a web of chaos and a narcissists fantasy.
When yall say “it’s hard for met to feel bad for her” — you sound just like the person abusing her. Thats what he wants yall to feel, that’s what all abusers hope to get, is isolating their victim to where nobody feels bad, nobody wants to help and nobody sees them as a victim.
We are literally getting a crash course example on what abusive relationships look like and why women stay for so long. This is the rollercoaster ride abusers take you on, they give you hope, they make you think they’re gonna change, then boom, back to the bullshit. Then once you get ready to leave or find a way to no longer be financially trapped, they start acting like they’ll improve, start showing you in “love” and gifts. Then back to square one. I know people love to say “she’s exactly where she wants to be” and that’s quite literally how being trapped in a chaotic fantasy works and is supposed to look to outsiders. Having attachment issues and being financially dependent doesn’t mean anyone deserves to be abused for it.
Notice how quickly all that bullshit about liberating Iranians disappeared, and now it's all about bombing them back to the Stone Age, destroying their bridges and universities, poisoning their air and water, and stealing their oil.
This is Cherise Doyley.
She was 12 hours into labor when a nurse told her to cover up with a bedsheet.
Then a tablet appeared at her bedside.
On the screen: a judge. Lawyers. Hospital staff.
She hadn’t asked for a hearing. The hospital had.
Doyley is a professional birthing doula. She refused a C-section — she’d had three before, and one left her hemorrhaging. She knew the risks.
It didn’t matter.
And here’s the part people should pay attention to.
The state filed an emergency petition. She had minutes to prepare. No lawyer. No advocate.
A three-hour hearing. In the middle of active labor.
A judge decided how she would give birth.
This is the fetal personhood movement, fully realized.
And it’s already happening. To Black women. In Florida.
Read the full @ProPublica investigation.
“A judge decided how she would give birth.
That’s legal right now.
Should it be?

My time on X.com has given me the impression that a large faction of the tech elite are absolute f*cking morons who circle jerked themselves into thinking they possess deep wisdom
when you think so little of yourself it is hard to imagine you are capable of causing great harm bc u basically don’t even think u matter. so u commit cruel actions and never recognize them as such.
Spent last night sobbing. There was nothing I did to deserve being born here vs Palestine, Iran, Sudan, the DRC, nothing. There’s nothing that justifies their suffering. I love people, I love children, I love the land, I love its creatures, and so I hate, hate, hate this country.
