Engineers are not marketers and they tend to talk about the technology.
We just need to be more clear about our product differentiation. @viewfromhk#GMshow
In my years leading communications at Fortune 500 companies, we had four major stakeholder groups to consider:
Employees
Customers
Shareholders
General Public
Web3 introduces a fourth - holders. What @doodles did yesterday was a masterclass in communicating to that group. For the second time, the first being NFT NYC a couple years ago, @jholguin and the team presented a clear vision for the direction of the company.
And they did it for the holders FIRST.
Not the general public, not a press release, a Discord-chat with this critically important group.
In one hour's time, they laid the foundation to empower their super fans, turning them into a decentralized marketing arm who evangelizes the brand. They armed them with the Doodles vision and sent them out into the world.
They shared data from past activations, key focus areas for the company, and teased future partnerships. The vision includes a clear a focus on Doodles IP, storytelling with its world class creative agency (Golden Wolf), and a software business.
The strategy of driving awareness through major partnership is working - they had the biggest opening event CAMP ever experienced (CAMP works with Disney and Nike), Crocs sold out in 24 hours, and Adidas/Ice Cream now have Doodle wearables. The team also hinted at a big collaboration coming in February 2024.
Net-net, while the directional strategy (which @Happy_dood_ summarized extremely well in a thread) was great, I find myself impressed with the team's commitment to bring its holders along for the ride.
Giving the holders a "first look" at the data and direction further encourages the community to proliferate the brand and makes them part of the company's successful growth strategy.
Doodles.
