To produce 100 million plastic bags it requires 430,000 gallons of oil. Worldwide, we use about five trillion plastic bags each year or 160,000 bags each second. Each bag is used for an average of 8 minutes before it gets disposed of. Sadly, only about 1% of them get recycled.

#ClimateCrisis #oilandgas With the levels of CO2 increasing over the past 30 years we are also seeing vegetation increasing by almost 30%. Foliage growth in deserts is up 11% making these waste lands a potential area to grow food. Plants grow better in increased levels of CO2.

@PaulEDawson Actually the number 1 contributors to plastic usage is from online shopping. Jet fuels consumption is also rapidly increasing. Oil companies are only providing them with plastics to package each individual product before they get shipped.
