ERC: You must demonstrate that you are the star of this project
Me:
"There is currently no explanation why some people hallucinate and others do not. Enter moi..."
Eyes-closed resting state differences between a hyperphantasic (left) and a typical imager (right), harkening to historic findings. Is hyperphantasia characterized by persistent low alpha power?
#hyperphantasia
Context: these were the 1st 2 subjects I analysed based on their PSI-Q visual score (hyper=10, typical=6.6). Resting state preceded ganzflicker. The hyperphantasic also saw complex ganzflicker hallucinations. Neither was aware of hyper/a/phantasia ahead of the experiment.
ERC: You must sell your groundbreaking ideas and yourself in an entertaining way
Me: Hey all you people! Listen, all you people! Hey, all you people won't you listen to meee? I just had an idea! No ordinary idea! An idea that's worthy of fundiiiing!
My current stance is that mental imagery is an unnecessary (but fun, bonus) epi-phenomenon of our complex ability to plan/remember/strategize. What do you think?

@joosthaarsma The "expectation" literature and the "imagery" literature are generally treated as separate - I get why, but as you've pointed out, they can learn from each other!
Wow, one more right on the tails of @GiuliaCabbai's study!:

@mikeamark@RCarhartHarris@WiringTheBrain Probably because there is clear confirmation bias in that conclusion. Let's just ignore the 20% of participants that actually showed a decrease in well-being...
