Apple Music set the standard, but Joi runs on a custom engine from scratch for locked 120fps sync. 100% dark and light mode ready out of the box
And yes, it's completely will be free!
@mancerrss So you can clearly see how long the completed solo or instrumental break actually was. I tend to loop solos very often, and I like keeping that info on screen
A side-by-side Now Playing comparison with Apple Music.
Unlike stock, Joi delivers full light & dark theme support for millions of albums 🎑

The ecosystem vision: native iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Watch, CarPlay, and maybe Vision Pro. Family Sharing is included at zero extra cost.
Standalone platforms like Mac and TV will be in Pro, while iPad, Watch, and CarPlay stay free.
No duplicate purchases.
I want to be completely transparent about how I am balancing Free vs. Pro in Joi.
Monetization is secondary. If Joi can sustain me, development speeds up. The goal is simple: deliver the smoothest music experience possible, paid or free.
Just you, your music, and Joi. [1/7]
@Travernash That was originally the goal, but including it would have delayed the launch by a few weeks. It won't be there on day one, but CarPlay is the very first priority right after release.

For example: Last FM starts in Pro at launch. Once I build deeper tools to view scrobbles and recommendations directly inside Joi, the core scrobbling feature will move to the free tier. [6/7]
@ivy_yuna@JoiTunes Font and size customization are planned for later. The "g" is not cut short, that is just how the font is designed. Adding custom LRC is doable, though managing those files is tedious for users. I will consider it. Thanks for the feedback 🙏
@shauns1van@Shineouo The improved core Apple Music experience is 100% free forever. The optional power-user tier is $1.99/mo or $29.99 lifetime.
Regarding Mac: yes. I plan to bring Joi to the entire Apple ecosystem eventually
@LaucsOfficial2@xhraey That is a common misconception. Expo is for React Native projects, whereas Joi is built entirely natively for iOS. You cannot automatically convert native code to React Native. It would mean rewriting every single feature from the ground up.
@Shineouo It’s a dedicated Apple Music client, not a new streaming service or a multi-platform app like Spotify. Think of it as Apple Music on steroids
@xhraey To be completely honest, I have zero experience with Android development. Even if I wanted to, Joi's codebase is huge at this point. Rebuilding every feature for Android and maintaining both platforms simply isn't something I can handle as a solo developer
