The amount of self-hate Americans have towards their own history is truly unreal.
They defeated slavery by fighting against their own family.
They shut Europe out of the western hemisphere so that nations wouldn't live under colonization forever.
They had the ability to stay out of world war 1 but they went and died to help Europeans.
They had the ultimate power in the nuclear bomb. They also had access to all of Europe's colonies that were in shambles. But instead they promoted freedom. They rebuilt Japan and Germany after defeating them in war. They stood down the Soviet Union, even as the world jeered them.
They sent soldiers to places like Vietnam and Afghanistan that died TRYING to create a better world (even if you disagree with those wars, the intentions were fairly good)
And they sent more missionaries to the world than maybe any other country in history. Translated more Bibles into indigenous languages than any other country in history. Ran bigger charities than any other country in history. Created more Christian resources than any other country in history.
Whether it was stopping the Dutch from reconquering Indonesia to the Berlin Airlift to giving Cuba its freedom in the Spanish-American war to saving China from the Japanese America has at least ATTEMPTED to do good with its power.
Yes yes, America has problems. People are imperfect. But goodness gracious does the world have a lot to be grateful for in America. And when we could have taken SO much from the world we have often chosen not to. Rome, Britain, Mongols, Assyrians, Soviets, Chinese, no other group has ever shown the restraint America has consistently shown with such vast power at its fingertips.
We didn't even get into the GIGANTIC technological advances, consumer advances, convenient lifestyle changes America has pioneered. From electricity to space to the light bulb to the smart phone to many cures in medicine and agriculture to the airplane the world has been enormously blessed by America.

Dear @MattWalshBlog:
I was 11 when the Islamic Revolution swept the Ayatollah into power in 1979. You weren’t born yet, I know, but for those of us who were, well, the memory of it is seared into our consciousness.
66 Americans were held hostage for 444 days. America was held hostage. Then President Carter was impotent. Americans wanted, no, they demanded a strong response.
It never came.
Since that time, the ayatollahs have waged war on America and Americans — they coined the term “The Great Satan” — with impunity, knowing that the America governed by Clintons and Obamas and Bidens (and even Bushes) was weak and tolerant. Thus, the Iranians funded 90+ attacks on American soldiers since 2020 alone. They have killed more than 600.
So, no, I do not accept your straw man argument that those of us who support President Trump’s decision to bomb Iran came up with the talking points “5 minutes ago.” We came up with them 47 years ago, Matt. The charge is outrageous, condescending (which you are prone to), and historically ignorant — but you weren’t born yet and maybe you just don’t know any better. You’re better than your flaccid arguments. (I saw your What is a Woman? movie. And liked it. Do better.)
Many of us do remember 1979 and the attacks and tortures and murders since, and we’ve wanted a strong response for decades. Not for revenge, mind you, as that makes for poor policy. But for justice. And because Iran is the head (a hydra, there are many heads) of the terrorist snake. You want the terrorists at home gone? So do I. So does every Trump voter. But who do you think funds them, trains them, sends them to do their dirty work?
I live in the South. Fire ants are a thing. I fought that battle for years pointlessly. Why? Because my neighbors didn’t fight it at all. No sooner did I destroy an ant hill than a new one almost spontaneously generated. Finally, I convinced my neighbors to let me kill theirs, too. Only then were my children safe from the bane of fire ants.
This is America First.
You tend to lean not America First, but America Only. Get out more. See the world as I have. And when you do you’ll realize the storm brewing at home is fueled from abroad. They are not mutually exclusive.
Attack both.
Strike the root of the terrorist tree or you accomplish nothing.
Two people are dead and a third has been injured over the last three weeks in Minneapolis alone because Leftists cannot accept the idea that the other side gets a say in how this country is governed, even when they lose an election.
They genuinely believe they can just do whatever they want, and if they engage in enough moral outrage and petulant acts of violence, they can force their desired outcome as a fait accompli.
The “very dangerous for our democracy” crowd equates literal mob violence to democracy and have this constructed a metaphysics where they get to always be in charge because they’re on the “right side of history”. How can you share a country with these people? How can we possibly maintain a liberal democratic order with one side that refuses to accept the legitimacy of the other?
We can’t.
When people refer to "trans genocide" they are referring to stories like this: an employer refuses the request of a young man who is dosing himself with female hormones that he be allowed to wear a cat maid costume to work at his job as a church custodian.
The young man kills himself.
The trans movement induces fragility in those sucked into it by telling them that they are victims of violence if the world sometimes says no to their imperious demands to violate other people's boundaries or be exempt from standards of self-presentation applying to everyone else. The fragility is a weapon used to emotionally blackmail others into compliance.
The power of that weapon is, of course, premised on it being a credible threat: "give me the special privilege that I demand on the basis of my unfalsifiable and unprovable claim to be something I am not and can never be, or I'll KILL MYSELF."
The credibility of this weapon is secured by inducing so much histrionic self-pity in its adherents that they sometimes really do kill themselves, allowing others making similar demands and threats to avail themselves of the newly replenished weapons that their sacrifice has enabled.

@theaceofspaeder@DefiantLs I had the same gut reaction at first glance, and i agree that kids shouldn't be burdened with politics, but it's not that strange for a child to look up to the President. I'm sure there were kids who wanted Barack Obama to come to their birthday too. This was very cute.
This is what the real south looks like. This the south they scared to tell u about. This the south that people up north and out west tells u dont exist because everything is "racist"
This is what they're afraid of.
There's 10 to 1 more of this than the BS that the outsiders spew
most political issues nowadays can be explained by understanding that american leftists dont have positions, they have oppositions.
their entire belief system is defined by negation of whatever the right supports.
this is why portland chants “free maduro” while actual venezuelans celebrate in the streets.
they’re not pro-venezuelan or pro democracies, or pro tyrant, or pro maduro, they’re simply anti-american-right.
they’ve outsourced their worldview to institutional narratives for so long that genuine self-reflection would require questioning everything.
for them it’s much easier to just oppose. the beliefs arent coherent because they were never meant to be coherent. they only need to signal tribal membership, and leftist membership is gained by opposing the right.
trump does X?
the left screams and cries because they wanted Y
trump does Y?
the left screams and cries and riots because even if they said they wanted Y, what they meant is that X was the way to go
trump cures cancer?
they’ll argue that the cancer cells are alive have a right of free determination
trump saves lives?
they’ll protest because somehow those lives didn’t matter and should have been ended
no coherent word model. no logic. pure opposition
at some point you just have to stop engaging with it as if it’s a real political position. it’s not. it’s aesthetic opposition wearing the costume of ideology
