@andrewlamb1111 is it possible to leverage Cram/Zram concepts of compressed memory to reduce memory footprint of arrow in memory? On storage we use snappy/zstd in parquet. Similar motion for arrow memory?

It's strange feeling about coding. I've been paying subscription to jetbrains tool suites. I used intellij, rust rover and pycharm as my goto tools and they were always running in my laptop. With new era of coding with AI I haven't launched these editors in like 3 months. All I'm using is neovim and AI spinning code neovim is my inspection.

@oxidecomputer it's beautiful server rack. I am wondering who buys these beautiful racks. Big cloud vendors have their own things and it's looks too expensive for normal companies. We are trying to put our own servers but wondering how will this work with hosted racks

@chronark @PlanetScale @BenjDicken One shard per tenant will not give isolation. We use one schema per tenant. I feel that's better middle ground than shard. Other problem with one shard per tenant is schema migration. We are stuck with all tenants get updates at same time.

@ChristianLempa There are two angles to it. Yay it's easy to get started with Linux. Flip side is most of the people who adopted Linux are tinkers. We want to things the way wanted and take pride in knowing and doing. If we take away that and make it like windows then the it's not fun anymore.

@dhh @OmarchyLinux it would be nice to onboard omarchy with Bluetooth. Yesterday I bought new minipc and wanted install omarchy. I had to scramble for keyboard. Since omarchy install is so simple we should be able to pair phone and just install omarchy with same WiFi as phone. No keyboard no monitor needed

@rustaceans_rs What a weekend for me.. I built S3 gateway for DAOS. Used libdaos and s3s project and built a S3 compatible gateway. I focused on MinIO community edition compatibility. Looks so far amazing. DAOS is great technology.

@eivanov89 This in general not the right behavior. When we kill the process we expect everything is done by that process is stopped. This can lead to vulnerability. Some malecious process can trigger huge write and process dies. We will never know who is filling disk and yet disk can crash

S3 protocol should change. A newer consistent gRPC enabled API should emerge. Better token auth better streaming data. Whole world has taken S3 as defacto standard. I think it's time for it to go to next level
