@themoneydoc I'm curious why your posts on RTE never talk about stock market investing. Making regular deposits in a broad ETF is far far better than a savings account with a measly return rate. It is commonplace in the USA but almost never talked about in Ireland.
@rtenews This doesn't seem like a very objective article. There is an assumed "correct" ideology, and the example statements in the article are clearly selected to make "traditionalists" look bad. It would be interesting to see the complete survey results.
@catholiccom I like the idea. And it works quite well - I liked the balance in its responses.
The graphic could be improved though - it looks at least ten years out of date. And it would be nice to have a text chat option instead of just the microphone.
Keep up the good work!
@Pathfinder4545@GhostCoase Who decides whether or not there has been enough geologic time? The pace of evolution is not constant - it varies with the changing climates and environments of Earth.
@GhostCoase The distinction between "microevolution" vs "macroevolution" is not a real thing in the actual research field of evolution. I've only ever heard the terms used by people trying to argue against evolution.
@e_baumgaertel Yes it's a great tool to deepen understanding. A good AI would have been trained on a huge amount more textual exegesis than I could get through and could present a useful diversity of scholarly opinions.
@david_perell Great post!
I'm kind of on an opposite trajectory, coming from a background steeped in a deep reverence for the Bible, to a growing disillusionment with the truth claims of my faith.
It's very welcome to be reminded of the beauty of meditating on verses of scripture. Thanks!
@TFMulliganEsq @BishopBarron I appreciate this perspective for growing in virtue but at the same time it feels like a deflection. Truth shouldn't contradict itself. If the pursuit of truth sheds light on deficiencies in belief then I must follow the truth wherever it leads.
@mfjlewis I think that mindset is an American thing tbh. Europe in general has a more dynamic relationship with "approval" because most of the standard practices and devotions of the church originated in local innovations that were widely adopted before approval, eg individual confession.
Is it just me or has @Twitter/@X changed the main url back to https://t.co/LPFCgsWuhF? I was sure it was https://t.co/dGGoKPX2F3 a few weeks ago. Perhaps it wasn't worth having so many redirects?
I'm unconvinced by the proposed rewording:
The virtue of the provision for "women in the home" was to prevent pressure being applied to mothers and homemakers to find work outside the home. With the proposed change there is no such protection.
The new wording is meaningless.
@RosaryWarrior1@mfjlewis No accusations from Cd Burke here. I think it's actually a healthy contribution to the life of the Church for the sedevacantist fringe to see perhaps the most conservative cardinal openly dislike the Pope but affirm his validity.
@unworthy_prod You can keep exploring along this line and you find that the most recent common ancestor of all current humans (mitochondrial Eve) lived about 200,000 years ago. I've never heard Noah's flood dated quite so far back.
@BaxterWilliams_ This line of thinking assumes time is fundamental and linear. Physics suggests that time is in fact an emergent feature of the universe, so to talk about a sequence of events before or apart from the universe makes no sense.
