The ride down to Punta Cana on flight number 1869 was great. The crew was very nice and helpful. And my #Mosaic greeting was one of the best yet.

How to STAND OUT in a “saturated” Niche as a Creator.
(Bookmark this)
- Ignore the bottom 90% of the niche as the only saturation is LOW EFFORT content in the first place.
Action: Identify the top 10 largest creators in your niche and analyze their standards: Thumbnail design, production quality, editing quality, performance on camera, but find each of their unique strengths and values.
- Raise your standards to those of a top creator, don’t compete with the 90% limit yourself to aspiring to the top 10%. Do this one thing at a time.
Action: if you can’t invest in equipment that makes your content comparable at a glance, start with improving your thumbnails to their Caliber, if need be outsource this. Then raise your production value where you can through camera equipment and editing ability.
- Deliver unique value. There are people who aren’t served by the top 10% and 1% in the niche and are and to see innovation or a fresh perspective. Be that alternative in the market while competing on attention grabbing high effort thumbnails and HIGH effort content that is challenging to make
Action: don’t settle for easy to make content longer than you have to. Make your content something they can’t get anywhere else’s but make sure it’s aligned to something PROVEN to be desired by the audience.
Don’t be afraid to defy the status quo in the niche but be sure to make sure it is obviously in contrast to what is popular, be intentional not random or quirky for quirky sake.
- Understand what HIGH EFFORT content means. It should be difficult for someone just entering your space to duplicate your content or even attempt it. This preserve your unique value and advantage. While a larger creator could try to mimic your strategy, the exact methods you use shouldn’t be obvious, or publicly shared. High Effort content tends to be more intentional, takes more time and attention to detail, and usual some investment.
Action - create your own “unfair advantage” by creating a process or method for approaching your content that either requires unique or custom tools or resources to make, or a very exact set of circumstances or combination of skills. Use your background and experience as an advantage that is hard to compete with or copy.
- Create a unique, recognizable aesthetic for your brand. People should know your content when they see it after a certain point.
Action: be consistent in design choices such as fonts and colors. Use photography driven thumbnails and photo manipulation and staged photo shoots to make unique thumbnails and branding that can’t be found anywhere else or duplicated easily. Also create animated and branded elements in your videos that make them unique. Everything you do should feel custom.
- Create Unique and compelling ideas that are too good to ignore. Invest more energy into ideation, not just execution.
Action: we can’t ignore extremes or large numbers at a glance. We also can’t ignore difficult challenges with either high stakes or high chances of failure. These are some of most compelling ideas that attract us.
- Create social proof. If you want to standout, consider a level of social proof respected in your niche and obtain it.
Action: look to social proof that others in your niche have and research the conditions to achieve those accolades and outcomes. Make a realistic plan and get help where needed to accomplish those objectives. Then make sure where appropriate this social proof is made visible. People respect real world accomplishments. It’s Kanu to show them off a bit if you don’t overdo it.
By using these methods you can stand out both visually at a glance, convey high value and high effort to strangers who are unfamiliar with your content, create authority by obtaining meaningful social proof your peers and audience respect, and have unique content that makes you a destination channel they can’t get anywhere else.
