On this day in 2006, we released the Here It Goes Again music video. This video cost less than $5,000 and was shot in 17 very sweaty takes, but it took us to the Grammys, the VMAs, and to the email inboxes of millions of people (you couldn’t share videos to social media back then).
20 years later, we actually now can share this to social media. Enjoy!
@mistermetronome@LordsofLimited Usually in spoiler season we guess the format speed from a cardfile, but can you try that in reverse? i.e. Say I'm from the future and can tell you for sure that an upcoming set will be a fast limited format. Could you then make guesses about the kinds of cards that are in it?
@wildstwawberry Huh. It seems they actually only have one section ranked by lift, and the rest ranked by inclusion. Which still means it's quite cluttered with staples
@wildstwawberry They're quite aware of that problem, it's an artifact of the ranking they use. They switched to a much better metric for card-to-card scores recently (where the problem used to be even worse). Hoping they switch the commander-to-card scores soon too. https://t.co/a8Q8pVvUEJ
Back on MTG Arena for #mtgcube. First draft is the first trophy this time around, probably thanks to the rank reset putting me in bronze. Bestowing Nantuko on Solitude was hot, as was Greaves+Uro.
Wheeled Fastbond and Nantuko in the draft and took Nantuko. Wonder if others agree.
What's the pick? Had this a few days ago and thought it was an interesting choice. I took Drain but curious if Frog/Karakas is correct. #mtgcube@lsv
(ended up 2-1 staying UW control, picked up Library, Elspeth, Sunfall, Columnade)
@rtwlz The "fantastic woman" in the pictured quote is incorrect. I went to the site and watched the clip, she says "transsexual woman." Hopefully this can be fixed.
Modo cube trophy number two!🥳orzhov was very open so I had some wiggle room in the sideboard, felt great to board in overlord vs control, leyline/curtain vs combo. Fire Nation Occupation was SUPER fun. #mtgcube
First ever modo cube trophy with 5colour soup! Took a few 1-2s to get the hang of it. MTGO is honestly a lot easier to use than its reputation. Skipped past activating a walker/playing a land sometimes though - makes me appreciate arena's visual cues. Thanks for the vids @lsv :)
4-3 with a blinky #mtgcube deck. Very fun and interesting to play. Got my own tibalt cast against me *twice*, once Etali and once Crabomination. Was definitely fighting for white during the draft, and struggled for playables. Lost to reanimator twice.
Not a trophy, but super happy to 6-2 with my first ever Library and first ever Psychic Frog #mtgcube deck. Holy moly is frog a busted card.
Lost a game to t3 griselbrand. Lost another to library not making colours after a 2-land 6-card hand got stripmined. A sad end.
First time drafting Academy *and* first time drafting breach! Went 5-3, but very happy with the result for a first time. Took time walk over Tinker pack 2, even with Sundering Titan taken already. Figured Tinker wasn't so good without acceleration.
Another mox-fueled #mtgcube trophy! 1st pick minsc, p2p1 mox. Started off more multicolour (ignoble, kavu, tribal flames, etc). Had Rumble in the sideboard and think that was a mistake looking back.
Makes 3-3 on cube trophies so far! Not bad for a cube noob I reckon :)
@fireshoes
1-3 with another green deck :(. The single win was a turn 1 ramunap+strip. Assembled the lock twice in the lost games, once versus ocelot pride+ajani so it didn't matter, and another versus Soul Cauldon :( #mtgcube
Second ever cube trophy! Very lucky to get sapphire and lotus. Glad I did cos not sure the rest of the deck is particularly great without the acceleration (aside from dork->minsc or natural order). Neat interactions were: minsc+wurm, dorks+gsz/ouro, curator+laelia
