Donald Trump: I think he's a nice guy but you need a certain aptitude to run for president. You need a high IQ, I don't really think Stephen A Smith has that
LLLMMFFAAOOOOOOOO
The encouragement of the illusion of perpetual maximal optionality is contradicted by the bare fact that we are all going to die. It has laid ruin to romantic love, and the people who brought us this culture are now trying to extend it into the very creation of new human life.
I hate when people say this because it’s not true at all. Music technology advanced so much between 1939 and 1982. 1982 feels modern because it is modern - there was this exponential growth and then it flatlined. Same with many other things like basketball
Listening to Thriller in 2026 is the equivalent of someone in 1982 listening to a song from 1939—the same 43-year time gap separates both eras.
When Thriller was released in November 1982, the musical landscape looked nothing like it does today. Looking 43 years into the past from 1982 takes you to 1939—a world of big bands, swing orchestras, jazz standards, and crooners, decades before modern pop production existed.
What makes Thriller remarkable is that it rarely feels as distant to modern listeners as music from 1939 felt to audiences in the 1980s. Produced by Quincy Jones, the album fused pop, rock, R&B, funk, and groundbreaking studio techniques into a sound that helped redefine popular music. Tracks such as Billie Jean, Beat It, and Thriller remain instantly recognizable across generations.
Its impact went far beyond the music itself. The album’s videos helped transform MTV and established the music video as a major artistic and commercial medium. The nearly 14-minute Thriller short film, directed by John Landis, blurred the line between music video and cinematic storytelling.
More than four decades later, Thriller remains the best-selling album of all time, with estimated worldwide sales exceeding 70 million copies, a testament to its enduring influence on music and popular culture.
men's friendships basically require a reason to exist.
sports, a job, a mission, something to build.
women's mistake is telling them to just hang out and be vulnerable and thinking they'll enjoy "bonding."
give men something to do together.
One idea that has revolutionized my thinking is this: you are allowed to not want things.
You can look at everything society tells you that you need to have and just be like, “Nope. I will not be participating.”
once you turn 20 you have to fight everyday for the rest of your life to not lose your personality & spirit...bc what once came naturally to you will be exhausted into nothing if you don't actively Try. it's terrifyingly easy to become a lethargic, soulless adult
Mikal Bridges to Jeremiah Fears, who asked how and why he’s played all 82 games every year of his career:
“Never ever leave a window open for somebody to take your spot. I always played no matter what but that’s another aspect that got to me: You never know how you might go out for a week or two and the next guy steps up and they play better and now the coaches and the organization and the franchise looks at you different.”
Saw Christian Eriksen have a medical issue today during the Denmark-Ukraine game. Good chance what happened today was his defibrillator (ICD) shocking him which is why his initial reaction is like being hit by a baseball bat to the chest. Remains to be seen whether he was shocked because his ICD detected a real arrhythmia or whether it was an artifact (uncommon but can happen). He will undergo a full evaluation but most immediately his ICD will be interrogated (which can be done immediately) to determine what exactly happened re: his heart rhythm. He will then undergo a full battery of tests. Too soon to speculate what this means for his career.
