Fred Hutch at #ASCO26: @Kev_Levine presents findings on the use of Hi-C sequencing to identify clinically actionable gene fusions in non-small cell lung cancer that may be missed by other sequencing technologies.
Ross Camidge’s incredible presentation from #TTLC26 is now available online. Anyone who deals with cancer in any capacity should watch it. You might cry (I did) but it’s worth it. Thank you @IASLC for making the presentation publicly available.

What an incredible heartfelt/ heartbreaking/ uplifting talk by Ross Camidge at #TTLC26!
A bow to our industry friends for driving rapid progress in cancer medicine but a reminder of their responsibility to value patient impact over market share
A call to action for us academicians - in particular young faculty to ensure we invest our smarts to advance the field and make the key observations in clinic no one else can
And first and foremost a reminder for all of us- we care not for patients but for people. The next patient we see could be any of us- we need to treat everyone with the same attention/urgency/compassion!
Ross showed today why he indeed is a true giant of our field- no wonder he is the only oncologist for whose tremendous continued contributions an entire molecular subset has been named- Ross fusions!

Like many, I was skeptical of the effect size here. Looked to see how it compares to prior retrospective studies.
I was surprised.
HRs are pretty similar:
- n = 1663, OS HR 0.50 (CI 0.42-0.58), PFS 0.51 (0.42-0.61)
- n = 731, OS HR 0.47 (CI 0.37-0.60)

@DanaFarber's Dr. Nolan Priedigkeit (@npriedig) delivering the Rising Star Award Lecture at #SABCS25. He discussed exciting, new research on repurposing driver and clonal #FusionRNAs as therapeutic vulnerabilities with a programmable nucleic acid sensing system. @SABCSSanAntonio@AACR
@DanaFarber's Nolan Priedigkeit (@npriedig) delivered the Rising Star Award Lecture today at #SABCS25, an honor recognizing outstanding early-career investigators whose work is shaping the future of #BreastCancer research.
In his lecture, Dr. Priedigkeit presented exciting new research on repurposing driver and clonal #FusionRNAs as therapeutic vulnerabilities using a programmable nucleic acid sensing system. His innovative approach highlights a promising new strategy for targeting cancer tumors. @SABCSSanAntonio@AACR
Looking forward to presenting our work on the efficacy of anakinra to treat steroid-refractory and/or grade 2+ ICANS! My fantastic mentor @drjgauthier summarizes our key findings below. #ASH25@fredhutch@UWMedicine
Just published: A case series at @fredhutch for lung cancer patients with osimertinib retreatment: https://t.co/DAeeF1mq8c. Restarting osimertinib works for some; hopeful more research into mechanisms of resistance will allow for prediction of who will benefit @EGFRResisters
Join me and Dr. Devarakonda for a full day of fantastic agenda of lung cancer! Debates on controversial topics, future of lung cancer clinical trials, and rapid review of what's on the horizon - all on 10/11/2025 at Seattle!
After the excitement of #WCLC25 looking forward to the upcoming Seattle Lung Cancer Conference on October 11. If any fellows are interested in presented a case at the case discussion, please reach out! #lcsm. @LeiDeng3. https://t.co/hyPNBJa4NJ

The new FLAURA2 OS data presented at #WCLC25 is exciting - nearly four years of median OS with osimertinib + chemotherapy is remarkable progress for our community!
Alongside the MARIPOSA data, it's essential to remember -- this isn't about competition. There is no one-size-fits-all "best" treatment for #EGFR #NSCLC. It's about patients and families.
Clinicians need the right tools to match the right treatment with the right patient. That is why I implore companies to invest in research that helps us understand who benefits most from each approach, through biomarkers, disease characteristics, AND A REAL understanding of #QOL from #PROs (Safety/AE grades are endpoints for trials, not tolerability) - THAT is personalized medicine and how progress becomes meaningful.
As the discussant @danieltanmd said, we need GPS maps to help guide patient treatment pathways. Options are hope, but only if we know how to navigate them.

Fantastic to be here in New Haven marking the 20th anniversary of the discovery of EGFR mutations in lung cancer - a discovery that inspired me to work on oncogene discovery in cancer. Amazing to see the progress and discuss opportunities for overcoming TKI resistance.
Had a wonderful time working with @KRejeski on creating a computational approach in R to automate ICAHT grading! Excited to share our work with the CAR T-cell community: https://t.co/TQynWQcj4n (1/6)
Phase III ALINA trial of adjuvant alectinib for resected stage Ib-IIIA (AJCC v7) #ALK NSCLC now @NEJM. Compared 2y of alectinib to chemotherapy. Alectinib improved DFS (HR 0.24) with 2y DFS rate 94% vs 63%! CNS DFS 0.22, OS pending. Standard of care IMO.

The Berger lab is hiring! We have openings for post-docs and research techs right now! Feel free to apply or just reach out to chat. Our lab uses functional genomics to map cancer genotype to phenotype at scale. Come join us! Links in thread
Very cool that I get to say I knew @npriedig before he helps transform our knowledge of breast cancer and fusions in general #SABCS23. Great to see fellows giving general session talks! @DFCI_BreastOnc
