People seem to be clutching pearls about Paraguay’s dark arts, but let’s be honest, it was a masterclass in playing to the line. Not a single French player injured. Not a red card. In the VAR era, that level of aggression is extremely difficult to execute. It was a coherent game plan against a superior side (and it very nearly worked).
