Coaching V Training in grassroots football (ages 6-12 years)
Coaching - You can see and hear children having fun🤸⚽️
Training - You can see and hear the coach dictating every move 🗣⚽️
Do you train children, or do you coach them ❓️
Learnings from Tyrone:
All technically top players
All physically very well prepared
Mentally tough
Tactically very disciplined (team first)
and the beauty is in the simple
"Here's how I'm going to beat you. I'm going to outwork you. That's it. That's all there is to it." PS
If you play with two inside forwards, do you ever give them ideas on different starting positions as attacks build? Why not trial these in training? We often focus on the runs we want them to make. These runs become even more effective from different starting positions.
1/3 Teams dropping off for the puck out in hurling is a common sight this year. Daring you to build the ball through 15 players or puck it down on top of an opposition overload or a congested middle third. Here’s a game to work that scenario.
2/3 GAME: Build the Ball
The conditions of this game mimic the game situation that players will see. The main themes are encouraging support running and delivery to the inside line. #GAA@GAAmeCoaching @HurlingHotspot
So much unseen work goes into building a score. Dublin aren’t afraid to go into corners. It stretches the defence. Recycle & change POA. No contact on the ball. Limited plays on the ball. Exploit the 1v1. @starryboy14 pointed out the Dubs use of the back door cut last year #GAA
Another desperately sad local story emerging this evening of loss of life. That’s four around here in recent weeks. The pandemic that’s under the radar and not talked about enough, sadly. Something’s got to give.
Video (with a voice over) in the link below to highlight the excellent use of the ball by @ballygunnerHc last Sunday.
Some examples for teams who drop players deep into their own half & why this tactic MUST to be complimented with good use of possession.

Movement skill day for this young baseball player...Every good strength training program should have a movement skill program to along with it. Let's remember were developing athletes not weightroom warriors. #LTAD
| I thought, this is where I'll die... It was quite terrifying... |

The point of going backward with a med ball reverse jump toss is to buy time to force a powerful extension and unfolding movement, says @spikesonly. https://t.co/EuS545GI8L via @SimpliFaster
