/5 Here's some great articles to read if you're considering or have remote employees and want to make them feel welcome.

1/ If you're a company that is considering or has hired remote employees, please make sure you are willing to accommodate them appropriately. Every time to make it hard for a remote employee to feel included you are telling them they are a burden rather than a valuable employee

[Kevin Peno @kevinpeno]

/4 These are old ways of thinking once you hire your first remote employee. Doing this will end the experiment before it gets off the ground and sour everyone at the company from considering it again in the future.

Lots of companies encouraging WFH, limiting travel, and encouraging video meetings cos of the virus.

Wait till they discover that, yes, it actually is possible to conduct business this way.

@rauschma @andrestaltz You did when you hooked up the account. I've had this issue. Just providing a heads up 🙂

[Kevin Peno @kevinpeno]

@andrestaltz @rauschma Problem with that, you authorized PayPal to withdraw money as well as deposit. If they feel like it is theirs, they will pull it back.

Same here!

Additional benefit: In TypeScript, we can choose between two ways of exhaustiveness checking. Only one of them works with `if`.

JS „that only loads images if you scroll down far enough“ 👉 „it's a worse user experience for people on slow connections who want to read the page. If you're going to read the entire page anyway, the weight increases, and you can no longer preload images by loading the site.“

Native JavaScript module scripts are deferred by default. This means the download for the main module can happen in parallel with HTML parsing!

Odd habit I find helpful: For hard problems, I pretend I'm presenting to a class. So I verbalize my thoughts.

"My options are..."
"I'm doing this because..."

I find verbalizing my idea clarifies my thinking. Even if the room is empty. It forces me to justify my approach.

@Twitter if I say "see less often" I don't mean see it next time I initiate scrolling.... 🤦‍♂️
