Fuck this dude.
Autism doesn't mean you become a vegetable.
You can do anything you set your mind to - even if it means you need more help or resources to get there, you CAN succeed.
Don't let this ex-junkie make you feel worthless. I promise you bring more worth than he does
@ikisnick The fact people don’t see issue with the clearly pushed boundaries and the mother laughing harder when he was clearly not ready to open or talk about it is baffling and tone deaf
This woman definitely cares and is supportive but holy toxicity man, space and time people
@liquid82@ikisnick Don’t do number 2 actually, because that’s a quick way to make your kid hold some resentment. Dont make it about how smart you are for “figuring out” what he’s not ready to talk about out
Don’t be a parent please, ever lol
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop It’s a topic of intrigue for me because not even counting just this initial post about social media ban in the UK, there’s been rampant debate everywhere about how kids are actively pushed in a way that doesn’t help creativity and effectively makes it harder for them
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop https://t.co/twGFcp3nr4
https://t.co/bDaazfEOIN
It’s been an ongoing study in America most prominently but they’ve been looking into how there’s been a drastic shift in creativity and the capability to do so especially in youths
It is mostly US focused but still worth a read
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop Yes because god forbid there be a better answer than “don’t blame the government, let kids be creative” when that’s not always easy for kids (medically researched mind you, that creativity from the mind is not something all people can do)
Bigger picture matters
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop So just because some communities are covered, we shouldn’t solve the other communities issues before taking away the “problem” across EVERY community first?
Just because a fortunate few would be fine when it happens, those who aren’t in a good position should suffer?
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop I don’t know about you but I don’t want my kids going to a poorly managed, poorly handled park where it’s probably not safe because their government heads don’t care to maintain it like they should
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop Because as far as things are concerned, they don’t. There isn’t a meaningfully safe or funded place anymore. Clubs barely exist, parks aren’t managed, libraries don’t stay open
It’s not bad faith, it’s reality. What works is being stripped away without an actual answer
@GenSPosting@loopzoooop Time has changed, especially for the worse, around the entire world. And higher power government officials don’t care so long as they “look good”
@GenSPosting@loopzoooop Most public places aren’t safe anymore, either mismanaged or under funded. Places kids can go either have rampant restrictions regarding minors or shut down.
They can indeed go outside. But luxuries when we were kids like libraries and parks are not funded or safe
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop A lot of libraries close on the weekend or early on said weekend, and are usually only open during school and school activity hours during the week
Public parks are either only designed for toddlers or not really kept and have druggy issues
Teens are smart, they see this
@squidgicumsquee@loopzoooop Isn’t the point of government to ensure needs and safety for all their people? ALL? Especially their NEEDS? They SHOULD ensure that it can happen, it’s their JOB to supply these places in some way, like parks and libraries
@SpursTicketsNWL@loopzoooop There was once a time a sole working parent income could cover things. Now two parents work and they still can’t afford anything. Working class for generations were given the means to survive and supply that way. Now they can’t? I wonder why?
@mignon_ette_@loopzoooop Near where I live the library is closed Sunday and only open on Saturday until noon. And during the school day is only open during school hours
Please try again. I agree they need spaces like this, but MAKE spaces for them
Solve the problem first before taking away another
