Today in the Free State Province, 150 Life Orientation (LO) teachers, National and Provincial School Safety officials, and various key stakeholders have gathered for the Online Safety Integrated Workshop, taking place from 28–30 May.
This important initiative is a collaborative effort led by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) in partnership with @AYMOnSocials , @UNICEF_SA, @UnescoZA, @CommsZA, @The_DSD, @FPB_ZA, and @Google.
The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of educators and safety officials to promote online safety in schools, ensuring learners are better protected in the digital world.

The Online Safety Integrated Training Workshop continues today with Life Orientation teachers from the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Education District in the North West province.
The focus of today is the Online Safety Curriculum Guideline, which was developed by the Western Cape Education Department, Google and Karen Walstra Consulting in 2020, and is CAPS-aligned to Life Orientation content for Grades 8-12, Computer Aided Technology for Grades 10-12 and Information Technology Grades 10-12.

Today marks the third and final day of the Online Safety Integrated Training Workshop. The focus of today's session will be the continuation of the Curriculum Guideline training, encompassing lesson content from Grade 10 to Grade 12.
Day 2 of the training workshop on the Online Safety Curriculum Guideline kicked off with a feedback report from @WCEDnews that they've run in schools. The Life Orientation coordinators were also grouped to hash out the relevancy of the concepts contained in the guidelines.
The Online Safety Curriculum Guideline is aligned to Life Orientation, Computer Applications Technology and Information Technology Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements and is meant to be included in the Life Orientation subject as part of existing lessons.

Today in Pretoria, Life Orientation coordinators from the various provinces have gathered to be workshopped on the guidelines.
