Nigeria is De@d, Once You Are Counting Your Income in Naira, You Are Poor — Pastor Paul Adefarasin Speaks On Economic Hardship
Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has stirred reactions after speaking about the state of Nigeria’s economy during a church sermon on May 17.
While preaching, the clergyman said, “Nigeria is d+ad, let’s not deceive ourselves. Once you are counting in naira, you are p%or.”
He went on to reflect on the value of money in past decades, saying, “I was not born p%or cause my father was earning up to like 18 thousand naira in the early 80s and 90s.”
According to him, the value of the naira has dropped significantly over the years compared to what it used to be decades ago.
“Do you know what a billion naira was then when I was 15–16? It was 2.8 billion dollars and we are taking it cause we live in the now, we don’t study history and don’t even research data,” he added.
The preacher added that many people fail to understand how much the nation’s economic value has changed over the years because they focus only on present realities instead of comparing historical data.
I’ll Send You to the opposition party to Scatter Them — Tinubu to Akpabio
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stirred reactions after jokingly suggesting he could send Senate President Godswill Akpabio to the opposition camp to destabilize them.
Tinubu made the remark on Tuesday while delivering his speech at the inauguration of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking humorously during the event, the President said, “Senate President, I will send you to the other side to represent me. And then you can scatter them to any way you want. They’re confused!”
He concluded his speech with a patriotic message, saying, “God bless Nigeria, God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria and the tax collectors.”
From Crash Site to Wedding Altar: Story of Courage, Destiny in Benue
A remarkable story of courage, destiny, and transformation has emerged from Benue State, spanning two decades and highlighting the impact of a single brave act.
On September 17, 2006, a Nigerian Army aircraft crashed over the Benue Valley, leaving uncertainty about the fate of those on board, including Major General Nuhu Bala Angbazo. In the critical moments that followed, help came from an unlikely source a 13-year-old boy from Mbakunu in Kwande Local Government Area.
The boy, Detimbir Chia, though untrained and unprepared, demonstrated exceptional bravery. He was among the first villagers who rushed to the crash site on Ngokur Mountain. Notably, Chia stood out for his ability to operate a mobile handset at the time, which he used to call for help, contributing significantly to the rescue of the survivors, including General Angbazo.
Another among the early responders was Vitalis Neji, who also joined other village youths in climbing the mountain to assist the injured officers.
Deeply moved by the young boy’s courage, General Angbazo made a life-changing decision to support Chia’s future. That decision would alter the course of the boy’s life.
Twenty years later, on April 4, 2026, that same boy, now Captain Detimbir Chia of the Nigerian Army, celebrated his wedding in a moment filled with symbolism and gratitude. Among the dignitaries present was General Angbazo, who stood in honour of the man whose life he had once entrusted to fate and bravery.
In a further twist of destiny, Vitalis Neji the same village youth who participated in the rescue effort attended the ceremony, this time as Chairman of Kwande Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Benue State.
The event served as a powerful reminder of how small acts of courage can shape destinies. From a remote mountain rescue in 2006 to a distinguished military career and a celebratory wedding in 2026, Captain Chia’s journey reflects the enduring value of opportunity, mentorship, and faith.
The inspiring story underscores a broader lesson: that seemingly ordinary moments and actions can have extraordinary consequences.
The smoke from the 2006 crash of a Nigerian Army aircraft on Ngokur Mountain has long since cleared, but the echoes of that day reached a beautiful crescendo on April 4, 2026. What began as a tragedy in the Benue Valley transformed into a twenty-year odyssey of gratitude, proving that a single act of bravery can redefine the horizon of a life.

Kwara M%ssacre: They Were K+lled for Refusing to Accept a Converted Form of Islamic Doctrine — Kwara Governor AbdulRazaq
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has confirmed a d#adly att+ck on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, which reportedly claimed the lives of 75 residents.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 3, when suspected t%rrorists reportedly invaded the villages around 6pm, unleashing widespread destr¥ction and setting the King’s palace ablaze.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the Emir of Kaiama on Wednesday, January 4, the governor said the victims were targeted for refusing to abandon their religious beliefs and submit to what he described as a converted form of Islamic doctrine.
Addressing the Emir and members of the community, AbdulRazaq said, “I commiserate with you over the d+ath of 75 of your subjects. Your emirate versatile and from information we are getting, this village refused to succumb to a converted form of Islamic doctrine.
They are nine under your emirate, abiding by the Islamic faith and basically did not want any alteration to the Hadith, pray to God pray to Allah and because they refused a change in doctrine and faith, they were att+cked and m%ssacred.
It is different from what we used to see when subjects were k+dnapped for ransom but this was just a pure m%ssacre and must be condemned,” he told the gathering.
The governor expressed deep sympathy with the affected families and condemned the att+ck, describing it as a senseless act of v+olence that must not be tolerated. He also assured the community of the state government’s commitment to improving security and bringing those responsible to justice.
TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RECORD SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN TIMBUKTU TRIANGLE OPERATIONS; TERRORIST NETWORKS DISRUPTED, VBIED ATTACKS FOILED
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained their advance into the Timbuktu Triangle, recording significant operational gains and further degrading terrorist networks operating within the area. In the latest phase of operations, troops successfully cleared and dominated key terrorist locations across the triangle, including Tergejeri, Chiralia, and the Ajigin/Abirma general areas. During the conduct of these operations, troops made intermittent contact with fleeing terrorist elements and engaged them with high volumes of fire, resulting in the neutralisation of several terrorists.
On 20 January 2026, while consolidating at a harbour area approximately 6 km North of Chilaria, troops encountered 2 Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED). Through vigilance and swift action, one VBIED was successfully neutralised. The second VBIED, however, breached the defensive position affecting some logistics platforms. In the course of this attack, some gallant soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force paid the supreme price, while others sustained injuries. The wounded were promptly evacuated by Nigerian Army Aviation helicopters to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital. Throughout the evacuation, Nigerian Airforce platforms from the Air Component in synergy with other Nigerian Army air platforms provided continuous overwatch to ensure the safe extraction of casualties and the security of ground forces neutralising more terrorists in the process.
In a further indication of the heavy losses suffered by the terrorists, troops discovered mass graves containing an estimated 20 terrorist bodies killed during encounters with troops in the Timbuktu Triangle and buried by their cohorts. This discovery exposes the scale of terrorist casualties and further discredits terrorist propaganda narratives.
Across the Theatre, the security situation remains generally stable. Troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high, and operations continue with sustained pressure on fleeing terrorist elements. Troops of OPHK remain resolute in their commitment to protect civilians, dismantle terrorist networks, and restore lasting peace and security across the North East.
