I have a new paper out diagnosing the UK’s economic failure and looking at the investment in the public realm that can turn it around. Thanks to all the team at LT, Yonder and Opinium for their work that has gone into this. https://t.co/9CsYh55Wv8
In the New Statesman today discussing the Cameron-Sunak continuity in economic policy. No investment, no wage growth. To grow, we need to rebuild Britain’s public realm. Better infrastructure in the North, more housing in the South, cheaper energy everywhere.
“The new Foreign Secretary is the architect of low-productivity, low-investment, low-waged Britain. It’s time to break with the failed experiment.”

Too often our infrastructure is expensive, over budget, delayed and cancelled. And transport spending is more than double in London than in the North. A British Infrastructure Act could enable faster and cheaper delivery, and redress regional inequalities in spending.

Homebuilding has been too low for far too long. Planning reform can unlock private investment and generate revenue for the Treasury. A British Homes Act could ensure that homes are built and that the public benefits from the value uplift.
Great write up of a new report by our Chief Economist, @kferriter, 'Building a New Britain'
The paper, out tomorrow, shows the shocking state of Britain’s economy, but also how new investment in the public realm - across energy, housing & infrastructure - could rebuild Britain.
