In about an hour, Del Mar will officially shift from a evacuation center to a training center. Only 35 non-Thoroughbred horses are on the grounds. Full training for racing at Del Mar begins tomorrow.

Beyond words the amount of gratitude I have for @marystackshop (especially Jewels) who just helped me to secure a supply donation from all of the Alberta horsemen who donated for Trifecta Equine Center. Angels.
The CHRB has sent out an advisory to horsemen and vets to monitor horses exposed to smoke for respiratory issues. The advisory also said Del Mar training will be restricted to jogging until Dec. 13. To enter SLR horses in races, it will be required to have a letter from a vet.
Best stat David Jerkens gave me today was zero. That's how many horses he says have died or been euthanized since Del Mar opened for evacuated horses. Considering there was a very real concern about smoke inhalation issues and colic, it's really tremendous news.
. @TMStallions and the California Chrome syndicate is donating a No Guarantee season to California Chrome, with all proceeds going to the fund that was announced in the TDN on 12/8 that benefits horses and backstretch workers who were displaced from San Luis Rey Downs.

The California Horse Racing Board said in a statement released Thursday evening that approximately 25 horses were lost in the San Luis Rey Downs fire. The facility had capacity for about 495. Many have been transferred to Del Mar for backstretch housing this evening. #drf
