@Avis At your JAX counter...for a 2nd time. Our experience is concerning and underwhellming, again. I will follow up in a direct message re: concerns. I do want to publicly recognize Antonio for taking care of us, and not speaking to us in a condescending manner.
@CVSHealth experienced the most horrible and unprofessional experience with a store manager who refused to give me her name and the cashier whose name I do have.
I would like to speak to the regional/district leader for 06441. Please message me w/ whom to contact. TY Kindly
Groundbreaking news of Spain's menstrual leave policy brings awareness to bio-physiology of anyone assigned female at birth (afab). Would you use this leave if offered?
@Nadine_Writes This is reprehensible. This will undoubtedly leave her emotionally scarred in someway and will likely be replayed in her mind each month during her menses for years to come. So unfortunate and sad.
@MCharlesMedia@people Just read this story, and as a naturalista this spoke to me for so many reasons. Congrats on your first Black History Month article for People. Well done! π
advocating for yourself is critical, regardless of background. Historical roadblocks are still creating roadblocks to care today, despite ethnic/racial background. Get comfortable in asking your doctors questions, and seeking second opinions if needed.
The Flexnor report stated "African-American physicians should be trained in 'hygiene rather than surgery' and should primarily serve as 'sanitarians,' whose purpose is to 'protecting whites' from common diseases like tuberculosis. I share this because... (see next tweet).
It's Black History Month. As a clinician and patient advocate, I believe it's important to note healthcare isn't equitable, and the Flexnor report can take much of the credit for this, at least when it comes to Black people. If you are not familiar, see my follow-up tweet.
What would happen if women challenged the healthcare system, and demanded that our pain and symptoms are more than a figment of our imagination? Unfortunately, those with endo, adeno, fibroids, etc. are often times not taken seriously. It is OK to advocate for yourself.
I sooo identified with this piece. It was like a page from my younger years. Thankfully, time and wisdom has a way of propelling us forward beyond comparing our self-worth to others' measuring stick. Well written.
"As a woman, we are constantly told our desirability comes from men, and from adhering to beauty standards β white Western beauty standards. As Black women, society continuously and unwarrantedly tells us that we are undesirable." https://t.co/hs8w9Rf8L6
As an advocate for women's health below the belt health, and breaking stigmas when it come's to bio-female physiology, when's the last time you "REALLY" assessed your menstrual cycle? Menstrual cycles are about more than just getting pregnant.

When it comes to women's reproductive health we have to ensure we are asking questions of our providers that serve our future selves. #becurious#womenshealthmatters
@MissMandyHale @ProducerKBranch Yes!! Then pat yourself on the shoulder for having the courage to free yourself from unfruitful relationships that bind.
@Refinery29@MirelZee Enjoyed this. I would add menstrual periods, or the mere act of having menstrual hygiene in one's hand. I use to stuff pads in my socks or wear them like shoulder pads as a teen. WHY?!!
