It reminds me of this tweet I saw yesterday & I wanted to do a comprehensive commentary on.

No I don't have kids. If I impregnated a girl in that period, I wouldn't have kept it.

In fact the relationship I had then, I was sure I didn't want it to last.

To your last question? Yes I believe there's a cost to ambition. You can't have it both ways.

Having kids early or not, especially as a struggling man, has both it's pros & cons.

But to believe that "children are a blessing" at all point in a man's life is a dangerous lie. These are the conversations we should be having.

Some of you have fathers who hold permanent resentment over you or your mum, or mothers who hold silent resentment because, deep down - they feel like the season when they should have offshot their dreams, they had children.

"Just have children, God will provide" - they'll not tell you that one of their intended sources of provision, is billing their single friends who decided against having children in that season, for that specific reason.

I can say without fail - if I had kids in that season, or impregnated & kept it, I would have been stuck in a particular loop survival. Probably settled somewhere remote in Iyana Ibafo miming "This is God's plan".

My dreams & ambitions significantly downsized, the opportunity to position my children for better would elude me, the pool & opportunities I'm exposed to today will be completely nonexistent.

Again, I knew all these clearly from when I was 21 - I was certain of the scenario I swore i didn't want to see happen.
