Finally got inside the Clerkenwell House of Detention today thanks to #cdw - anyone can register and see great historic spaces usually closed to public (plus taps, lights and tiles)
“Yippee ki-yay…”
We are excited to tell everyone that Westminster Council decided on May 1st that the Prince Charles Cinema would be included in the list of Assets of Community Value maintained by the Council under section 87 of the Localism Act 2011.
Today marks the 80th Anniversary of #VEDay - as part of Eric Ravilious‘ legacy are his depictions of that conflict, which rank among the most important war art of the century. But he never lived to see the peace, being killed in 1942, leaving his wife Tirzah a widow. #VEDay80
Saw Giant this week and it’s fantastic. So much tension from simultaneously liking Dahl and feeling revolted by him. Excellent supporting cast, esp Elliot Levey
Review: Giant, Harold Pinter Theatre ★★★★★ all the stars as the John Lithgow-powered Roald Dahl antisemitism drama makes a very big return https://t.co/5RA3uJsu1v
In any other major city in Europe the streets of Soho would obviously be pedestrianised and businesses/visitors on a glorious day like today could enjoy al fresco dining. But thanks to Westminster Council and the way we give outsized power to absurd local complaints, not here!
The Guardian is looking for a Midlands correspondent based in Birmingham .
Great to see a major national paper treating the Midlands seriously rather than just treating it as part of the North, which of course should also be taken seriously

Loved A Real Pain. Funny and serious and quietly clever. Yes, Kieran Culkin is outstanding but it’s also a great ensemble piece. Heart did a little lift when Jennifer Grey appeared
